  • The long awaited 200th episode is finally upon us! To celebrate we welcomed another fellow podcaster Jakub to the show who hosts the weekly interview series called The Sunday Night Army! Having been involved in the word of music and media since the early 2000s he discusses the shift in technology and accessibility that he’s maneuvered in order to keep putting out high quality content. He talks about the origins of The Sunday Night Army and the different people he’s been able to connect and collaborate with through the show which has allowed him to expand his brand and network tenfold over the last several years.   • As music fans well know the DMV area is chock full of talented music acts and among the independent scene is singer songwriter Noah Mauriah! She joins us on episode 199 to talk about the importance singing has had on her life and why her journey as an artist has been so important! With a background in choir from an early age she discusses finding her voice and eventually falling away from it around college. It was only more recently she decided to pick it up again and pursue being an artist which has led her to release stellar singles such as “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Outside”.   • Dwelling in Scotland with a love and passion for both music and writing, Evan Baxter-Carr is the brain behind one of our favorite music blogs on the web today called “Doombox Music”. We had the chance to have our first in depth interview with Evan this week to discuss the site and where the idea originated from. As a fan of artists ranging from David Bowie to MF Doom he talks about how the wide array of styles he intakes helped to influence the place that Doombox has become. He talks about his approach to having music sent his way and what goes into his album reviews and write ups for the blog itself while also running his own radio show to give his thoughts on certain projects from an array of independent artists. Evan also has plans to finish writing and publishing his own book in the future as well as continuing to pursue other ways to keep music involved in his daily life.   • Returning for the first time since 2020 we welcomed back Atlanta’s own Rome Westfield this week! Rome is a long time friend of ours and someone who has stayed persistent in his music journey ever since we met in 2019. This week we got to catch up about some of the different twists and turns he’s taken all while maintaining his mission for continued growth. He touched on being able to shift his sound to a new lane and keep reinventing his music as opposed to always sticking with the same style over and over.   • This week we welcomed in the multi talented Awks Cord who is an artist, producer and DJ from the west coast. She joined us to touch on where her love for the craft began! With a background in band early on she took up for instrumentation which led her to the world of creating through music production. She discussed how this has helped her within the curation process as a DJ but also as a solo artist herself. Most recently she released her latest effort “Wanna Smoke” as her first full offering of 2024 as she continues to craft more new music behind the scenes. If anything is present throughout this episode it’s her love and enthusiasm for music and specifically for the grind and payoff that comes from being an independent artist as someone who’s been at it for some years now.   • Friend of the show and former Ohio native Mike Bauman hosts the incredible show the March Forth Podcast and joined us this week on episode 195! He discussed his background in sports journalism in his hometown of Toledo and the different lessons he learned that eventually led him to covering his other love in music. Mike moved to Nashville after college and describes the influences the city had on his desire to start his own platform. He also told us more about what it’s like getting to interview different artists and other musicians as well as the contrast between the sports and creative worlds when tasked with the responsibility to report and tell others stories through media.   • This week we’re joined by artist, producer, instrumentalist and fellow podcaster Jailan Williams from the great state of South Carolina! We got in touch with Jailan through his show the JusMusic Podcast which he co-hosts with his friend Marco and which serves as an awesome platform for local and worldwide talent to tell their stories. Jailan gave more insight on how the podcast and brand has helped him and Marco both expand their horizons and connect with more individuals who they might not have met otherwise and the possibilities it has opened up for creating new ideas. He also discussed his own musical journey and how he leaned into his own artistry more in his college years after not being too keen on it in his early life. Since then he’s self released his own tracks and projects including his 2023 tape “The Resume” which gives listeners a sample of his wide musical appreciation for different styles and palettes.   • Formally known as Eliyya Lane whom we welcomed initially to the show in 2021 we were rejoined this week by Hey Sereena as she’s now known on episode 193! Sereena had a cool discussion with us this week about what she’s been up to both in life and musically over the past few years. Primarily what led her to change her moniker and the different styles of music she’s now creating and playing as an artist, producer and DJ. When talking about DJing she describes what it’s like to work with a wide array of different clients all of whom are looking for a different set list to be created for their event or show. This is something she’s worked hard at to be able to find each person’s specific needs and curate the right songs for every occasion she’s involved in. She’s also planning to release more music of her own this year and collaborate with other individuals as a way to keep things fresh and exciting.   • Returning to the show this week is Philadelphia MC and Dead Wrong Records lead man King Shampz who you’ve probably heard mentioned before in this show even outside of his first interview! As one of the most consistent artists we know we’re always happy to get some of his expertise and perspective and this week he had a lot more to give! The primary point of discussion was on his newly released album “Rise of Corleone” that has been released since the time of our conversation. He talks about working with his brother Azzan to craft a thorough sound bed to carve out his lyrical story over and how the time taken to make the project really paid off in its overall quality and end result.   • With early exposure to music through her family and the church Baltimore native and artist Cryst always had the vision to become an artist herself one day.   • Artist, producer and engineer Aeva Willis has covered a lot of ground over the years both from living in different cities to her overall career and life goals. This week she joined us on episode 190 to reveal how each step of that journey has still led her back to her true calling within the music landscape! Having moved to Nashville for college she discussed how learning music production and audio engineering has been a much needed learning curve to get through as it’s helping serve her in multiple areas of her artistry.   • Following our talk with Dallas area singer Les B. back on episode 115 we’ve stayed in touch with what he’s been up to and decided to have him back on the show this week! We had the pleasure of discussing his recent releases like the tracks “Redemption Story” and “All I Want” as well as a slight preview of his most recent single “What You Want” which has released since the recording of this episode.   • Massachusetts MC and podcast host Soma79 stops by this week for episode 188! As a fellow show host of The Articulate OX Podcast Soma79 has been using his platform to not only help other artists have a place to speak but also meet some awesome collaborators along the way which we talked about with him on this one. He discussed leaving music initially to pursue another one of his great passions which is drawing. Around the time of the pandemic he made his return and began to self release music again where he was able to readjust and resharpen his pen to get back in the swing of things a lot more easily.   • We’re joined on episode 187 this week by California artist Zzay whom we have followed from a far over the last couple years! She joined us to discuss a wide array of topics surrounding her career and mission to keep the love involved in her creative life. Having zeroed in on a true focus as an artist over the last five years she’s seen many great results as both a songwriter and in her own discography. Among her recent releases is an EP with fellow collaborator Danny Zico titled “I’m Good” which she describes as a fun body of work to complete in person while learning more about the process and technical sides of creating different works. She also gave us insight on how her viewpoint has shifted since the beginning and how she aims to always stay true and authentic to herself as an artist no matter if she’s working solo or with someone else and what it means to her to live within that purpose.   • Previously featured on episode 109 we welcomed back New Jersey singer and songwriter Janessa-Nicole! We had fun recapping her big accomplishments in 2023 which included her long awaited project “Love On The Menu”. She talked about the recording process commuting from Jersey to Philadelphia and back again to work in different studios and some of the collaborators who had a hand in its creation. Having already started a video podcast to discuss the stories behind some of the songs on the project she touched on the ways she’ll continue to shine light on the album and keep the rollout process going while working on her next batch of material. We also touched on her continuation in photography which we discussed briefly in the first episode and how she’s kept it involved in her creative repertoire.   • Canadian artist, podcaster and coach Michael Averill joins us on episode 182 to kick off the month of December! Michael is a close friend of the show and it was a blast being able to take a deep dive into what makes him such a great advocate for musicians in many different ways. He first gave insight into what made him pursue being an artist in the first place having musical roots within his family and a love for the guitar that led him down a path he never expected as a solo touring musician.
