  • Did you know that a big (BIG!) chunk of sales actually comes from existing customers?

How big? Well, I’m so glad you asked.

Think of it this way: research shows that, while most businesses make sales to anywhere between 5-20% of NEW customers, they close deals with 60-70% of EXISTING customers.

This means your likelihood of making a sale is doubled when targeting existing customers compared to acquiring new ones.

This is why your Customer Lifetime Value is so important to figure out and I’m literally giving you the formula to compute it. (It quite possibly may be my favorite math equation to date!)

In this episode, you’ll learn my four-step framework for calculating LTV and my five favorite strategies to boost it.

  • What if you treated your life like a puzzle?

Allow me to explain: when you approach a puzzle, you typically start by identifying the corners or edges.

Once you have your corners in place, you begin filling in the pieces, one by one. Each piece represents a small step or task that contributes to the larger picture.

Well, in life, progress is made by breaking down big goals into manageable tasks and tackling them one at a time. By focusing on completing one piece at a time (and not the whole picture), you gradually build momentum and move closer to your goal.

This was one of the many (MANY!) takeaways from recording this episode with my new friend Sahil Bloom, and of course, my temporary co-host Jen Gottlieb.

In this episode, you’ll learn how to make small changes that lead to BIG transformations, and what to do if you want to change your whole life… in just one year.

(00:32:36) The importance of putting yourself out into the world to create opportunities and find the right business partners.

  • Wanna know the most important move you’ll ever (EVER!) make in business?

    … The first move.

… And then it’s the next move.

… And then it’s the one after that.

Here’s the thing: I know (I know, I know) that making business moves before you feel ready FEELS very counterintuitive… and that’s why few people do it. But it’s necessary.

And one of my favorite examples of this is Jason Phillips, CEO and founder of the Nutritional Coaching Institute.

When he started his business, he didn't wait for the perfect moment or until he felt completely prepared. Instead, he took action. He launched his coaching program, refined it through trial and error, and adapted based on feedback.

Spoiler alert: He actually just decided to shut down a $6M revenue stream in his business.

In this episode, you’ll learn the beliefs Jason holds to be (extremely) successful, how he overcomes obstacles, and the strategy Jason is using to create his new offer.

Click play to hear all of this and…

(00:04:25) How to overcome self-doubt and limitations.

(00:13:29) Our thoughts on if we’ll ever feel like we have "enough".

(00:16:48) How to find the joy in the chase, anticipation, and achievement rather than the end result.

(00:22:45) Developing the drive to constantly improve and surpass previous levels of success.

(00:29:18) The role selfishness and selflessness play in achieving success.

(00:32:24) Jason’s story about his card declining at Starbucks (and how it changed his mindset.)

(00:33:50) Jason's decision to offer coaching for free to a national champion weightlifter and the surprising impact on his business.

(00:35:24) Jason's perspective on authenticity in marketing and sales, and the value of offering free services.

(00:42:48) Jason's decision to close a $6M revenue stream due to feeling out of alignment.

(00:45:00) Jason's plan to “build a whisper”—a concept Alex Hormozi writes about in his book.

(00:47:31) Jason developing his offer (in real time!) and his strategy behind it.

(00:51:41) The mindset of expecting failure and using it as a learning opportunity in business.

  • Be honest: have you ever felt so closely tied to something…

… and then it was just, well, gone? poof

If so, then you know it can feel like your identity is being stripped away from you, forcing you to start over...again.

This is what I’ve learned: if something is being taken away from you, it’s because it’s time for you to let go for something bigger (and more aligned with your future). It’s hard to leave situations (willingly) when they’re comfortable, familiar, and certain—so, sometimes you are forced.

This is precisely the situation Hala Taha, LinkedIn, and Podcast Expert, found herself in when she was let go from her Hip Hop show on Hot 97, and shortly after, her MTV show was canceled. But, because Hala persevered, she’s built a successful podcast and a profitable agency.

In this episode, you’ll learn Hala’s strategies for LinkedIn, business growth, and how she went from a $700-per-month client to a $30,000-per-month client.

  • Did you know that our brains are literally wired to not only LOVE but to remember stories?

Cool, huh? This collective love for stories makes storytelling one of the most POWERFUL content (and let’s be real, sales) strategies. It enables us to get our message across in a way that people want to receive it.

    And that’s magic.

But when you tell the right story to the right people, they’re able to envision themselves in your story…

And, well, that’s magic with a sprinkle of fairy dust – topped with unicorn sparkles…

And it’s called your conversion story.

In this episode, my very good friend, Colin Boyd, Selling From Stage Coach and Storytelling Expert, shares exactly how to leverage storytelling in presentations and sales calls to increase your conversion rates.

Well, it's not just about the price; it's about the perceived value.

And as wild as this may seem, the perceived value is oftentimes associated with a higher price.

Some people would ask the price not to make sure they can afford it, but to make sure that very few people can.

  • Can I be really real with you for a moment?

Podcasting was starting to feel…well, lonely. As much as I love this creative outlet and especially the opportunity to go deeper with you – I was ready to spice things up.

So, I started asking myself, how might I have a podcast host without having to change the nature of my show?

This single thought led my team and I to the idea of having a temporary co-host. The co-host coordinates and curates the guests and contribute to conversational questions (which takes a lot of the pressure and responsibility off of me).

And y’all this was IT. praise hands

Just like that, the fun/excitement/zest was back.

In this episode that originally aired on the Earn Your Happy podcast with Lori Harder, we discuss the power of creating meaningful connections, staying in your zone of genius as a CEO, and the importance of aligning with fulfilling projects.

  • I’ll NEVER forget the way they made me feel…

We (JD, my business partner and husband, and I) went to Las Vegas with a 24-hour notice to meet our daughter, Luna, for the very first time.

Knowing that this is undisputedly the most important **day of our entire lives, we wanted it to be an incredible experience.

But the hotel that we originally booked reeked of decades-worth of cigarette smoke and dust-filled curtains…

We simply couldn’t stay there… so we called the Four Seasons.

    AND THANK GOD WE DID…

It was quite possibly the most incredible experience I’ve ever, EVER had… I’m talkin’ upgraded suits, fresh flowers, hand-written notes, bottles of prosecco…

Y’all, the valet even helped us install Luna’s car seat. Just incredible. And because of this experience, we return (like clockwork) every single year.

The lesson: If you want more referrals and repeat buyers, create an unforgettable experience.

In this episode, you’ll learn how to create an experience that’ll increase customer loyalty and your competitive edge. I also break down the customer journey, sharing strategies for you to create impactful experiences at each phase.

  • Believe me when I say that I immediately slammed my laptop shut the moment I heard him say $25,000…

Several years back, James Wedmore (my now friend and mentor) was about to open cart for one of his masterminds. JD (my husband and business partner) and I were trying to guess the price before he mentioned it. “$5,000?”… “No way, $10,000?”… whatever it was, we knew it wasn’t going to be cheap.

So, why did hearing him say that the price was $25,000 make me slam my computer shut?

It’s because even considering paying that amount of money made my mind automatically go to feelings of fear, doubt, and uncertainty… emotions that I didn’t want to feel.

But here’s the kicker, slamming my computer shut wasn’t a no. It was an objection that he addressed and handled.

In this episode, you’ll learn how to address your potential customers' objections to increase sales, create content and bonuses that directly refute their fears and concerns, and understand the specific objections related to your industry.
