Overcoming adversity can lead to extraordinary outcomes, a truth I've lived firsthand. My battle with illness and the mental toll of chemotherapy sparked a transformation.
I went from scrolling through social media with a heavy heart to planning a virtual summit to celebrate and amplify the voices of inspiring women. The path has been both challenging and rewarding.
On today's show I take you behind the scenes of putting together our first virtual summit.

From a spark of adventure to igniting a fitness revolution, Yvonne's journey as Founder of Women's Fitness Adventures began with a simple desire to rediscover the joys of the outdoors.
After stepping away from a Global Corporate Role in Women's Health and Wellness she embarked on a life changing hike on the Great Ocean Road, in Victoria, Australia. In total it was 110km/68 miles.
That experience - filled with physical challenges, laughter and camaraderie - was the catalyst for the creation of Women's Fitness Adventures - with the belief that all women should experience the outdoors in a supportive community.
Over the past 10 years as Founder, she's garnered acclaim from top media outlets and was also named a Woman of Influence for her innovative outdoor hiking fitness programs.
Now, 10 years on, her company has empowered thousands of women to grow stronger and more confident, forging lasting friendships and unforgettable memories along the way.

I remember the moment I realized my cancer journey was far from over; it was when I laced up my trashed running shoes and decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. That's right, join me as I walk you through the transformative shifts in my training regimen, a testament to the power of resilience and the capacity for change within us all. With the Hike Like a Woman group's climb looming in June, I've revamped my approach, and I'm eager to share the breakthroughs that have eased my anxiety and could revolutionize the way you tackle your own mountains—literal or figurative. And since we're on the subject of steps forward, I'm curious—what are your go-to running shoes? I'm in the market for a new pair, and your recommendations would mean the world.
This podcast isn't just about prep for a summit; it's a reflection of a journey with my post-cancer body. I open up about the struggle to embrace my new strengths and the ongoing battle with treatment side effects. But it's also about the reclaiming of my spirit through setting the monumental goal of reaching the peak of Kilimanjaro, which symbolizes my 'cancer finish line.' As I share the insights gleaned from changing 'working out' to 'training' for a purpose, I invite you to consider how language shapes our mindset and actions. Whether you're navigating your own health battles, considering a grand adventure, or simply looking for inspiration to persevere, this episode promises to connect and embolden.Support the show

Meet Marina.
She's The Beyond Cancer Coach. She was inspired to help others after beating breast cancer and running the Boston Marathon one year after being diagnosed. She shared my cancer journey on social media and had many people reaching out to me for help with loved ones who were being diagnosed with cancer. She needed a bigger platform to reach others so she started a YouTube channel. Later that year, she was diagnosed with breast cancer again. She vlogged my journey on YouTube and uploaded a viral video titled “12 Things I Wish I Knew Before Starting Chemo”. She has a YouTube community where she host monthly live chats. To empower herself and others, I completed a Holistic Cancer Coach certification in 2023. She's seen how overall health can affect one area of our body from my 15 years of experience as a dental hygienist. She continues to help others find hope and tools to help them beat and prevent cancer. You can find her on YouTube or at www.marinablackford.com. Her greatest passion in life is being a mom, traveling with my family, running, and anything outdoors!

Marianne Hoffman, originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, has been an avid senior hiker ever since her pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago spurred her love for walking in nature. She decided to “walk the Camino” in order to commemorate her 60th birthday. Living in the foothills of the Wasatch mountain range, Marianne could easily explore the many hiking trails in local canyons, as well as in her much loved Utah desert.
In 2017, Marianne migrated from Utah to Cuenca, Ecuador. She was fortunate to find like minded senior hikers and an amazing local hiking guide.
Marianne describes herself as a “late bloomer”. She is now passionate about encouraging seniors to hike and seek adventure and truly believes “you are never too old”!
Marianne has experienced adventures and hikes she never could have imagined as a senior woman. Traveling all over Ecuador by bus, plane and foot has been rewarding, exciting and validating.
Living in the High Andes at an elevation of 9100 ft ( 2800 meters) and regularly hiking at 14,000 ft (4200 meters) has proven to her what seniors are capable of.
In the past year Marianne has had the privilege of hiking in Bolivia in “The Valley of Souls” and has trekked through parts of Colombia.
“If I can do it, you can do it!, I’d love to share my experiences and travel and hiking tips and encourage you to “hike a good life” .
