March is Women's History Month and we wanted to celebrate this by sharing with you an amazing panel of women who are holistically FOR women! Stand for Life hosted this panel of women to talk about what it meant to truly be pro life and pro women. This panel is hosted by Bri Strensrud and includes Jamie Ivey, Embrace Grace founder Amy Ford, Professor Missy Branch, and Annie Humphrey with Save the Storks. This conversation discusses the economical challenges women face, how to gain proximity to those who are vulnerable, truly giving women free choice, and helping others find freedom from shame and regret through Christ.

  • At just 16 years old Ronald Olivier made a decision that would change his life forever, but he wouldn’t let it define it. On today’s show Ronald shares his journey from growing up in poverty-stricken New Orleans to being sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole at the age of 16. He recounts his transformation in prison and how he became a missionary, spreading the gospel to other inmates. Despite facing challenges and unjust treatment, Ronald remains hopeful and finds purpose in his faith. He shares a powerful encounter with the victim's mother, ways he saw God move in other prisoners’ life, and the impact forgiveness had in changing his life forever.

Today, Ronald Olivier is a loving husband and father. He has his Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministry and is an ordained minister. For several years Ronald served as the Director of Chaplaincy for the Mississippi State Penitentiary, and today serves as a Client Advocate for the Louisiana Parole Project where he helps formerly incarcerated individuals transition back into society.

Ultimately, Ronald's story is one of redemption and the power of God's grace, and we know you’ll love hearing about his journey of freedom, forgiveness, and redemption during his time in Angola prison. Ronald's life is a testament to the power of forgiveness and the possibility of redemption.

Research shows that over 80% of homes in America own a Bible, but less than 10% of Americans read the Bible regularly. Too often we allow our lack of understanding stand in the way of experiencing the living and moving Word of God. On today's show Kristi McClelland shares with us how we can be like rivers, not lakes, and how the world needs both diggers and haulers of God's word!

Kristi McLelland is a professor, speaker and author of Rediscovering Israel. She teaches the Bible in its historical, cultural, geographic, and linguistic contexts. Kristi leads biblical study trips to Israel, helping Westerners discover the Bible within the context in which it was written.

In today’s show, Jamie and Esau chat about how important it is to sit, read, and listen to stories and experiences that may not affect us. We always have an easy way out of conversations that don’t directly impact our lives. But Jesus calls us to compassion and empathy and to love one another through joys and pains. We love the reminder from Esau that everything we need to love one another well is in scripture - what a blessing it is that we truly have the answer.

Esau McCaulley is an associate professor of New Testament at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. He is the author of many works including Sharing in the Son’s Inheritance and How Far to the Promised Land. He is a contributing opinion writer for the New York Times and his writings have also appeared in places such as The Atlantic, Washington Post, and Christianity Today.

A lot of times we need to be reminded of what we already know to be true. On today’s show we talk about what it means to ponder our own reality. Ponder serves as an acronym for:

P - Past and Present Hurts

    O- Obligations

    N- Needs

    D - Desires

    E - Expectations

    R - Responsibilities.

We’ll break down each letter and ponder on what we’re currently telling ourselves versus the truth we need to hear! I encourage you to grab a pen and paper and take some time to ponder your own reality and ask God to reveal his truths to you!

You wake up everyday, feed the kids, change diapers, go to work, come home, fix dinner, go to bed, and wake up the next morning just to do it all over again. Have you ever asked yourself what all of this is about? Does any of the work you put your hands to matter to God or for eternal purposes? Today on the show we have Jordan Raynor to answer that very question!

Jordan Raynor is a leading voice of the faith and work movement. Through his bestselling books, podcast, and devotionals, Jordan has helped millions of Christians in every country on earth connect the gospel to their work. In addition to his writing, Jordan serves as the Executive Chairman of Threshold 360, a venture-backed tech startup which Jordan previously ran as CEO following a string of successful ventures of his own. He lives in beautiful Tampa, Florida where his family has been for 7 generations.

Jordan and I have a conversation around his newest book, The Sacredness of Secular Work. Jordan defines these terms and gives us warnings of traps we can tend to fall into when we’re thinking our work doesn’t matter. Jordan gives us a resounding yes, that what we’re doing today does matter for eternity, even if it feels mundane.

You guys! My newest book is coming out THIS MONTH!! I'm so excited about it, and for a few reasons, I feel like this is my best book yet! I love the minds that came around to help write this book and I love how practical it is! Over the next few Fridays you'll hear me talk about the meaning and purpose behind each part this book is broken into. This week is Part 1: Defining Your Reality.

Too often I found myself comparing my life to someone else's. I imagine I'm not the only one who has done this. But how can we compare when our realities are so different? How can a 26 year old mother of toddlers possibly compare her life to a 47 year old mom of four teenagers? How can a stay at home mom compare where she's at in her career to a full-time working mother? It's just not fair to anyone when we do that. We have to look at our own lives and circumstances and define what our reality is in this season. We must ponder on the areas of life that feel out of control, and allow Jesus to come in and have his way!

I can't wait to go through Part 2 with you next Friday! Thanks for listening and sharing this episode with a friend!

  • As we wrap up this four part series, New Year, Same You, I want to acknowledge that not all of us are looking forward to the year. Some of us have crawled into 2024 still feeling like we are purely surviving, still grieving the losses of 2023, and still healing from the damage done. You know better than anyone that just because it’s a new year, it’s not a new you. In part 4 of this series I discuss these unique challenges with the author of Not What I Signed Up For, Nicole Unice.

As a pastor and community leader. She is the author of several books on healthy faith, honing in on the connection between our emotional and spiritual life. She’s the host of How to Study the Bible, a popular weekly podcast that reaches people in 188 different countries in the last year alone, and preaches frequently for conferences and churches. She makes her home with husband, Dave, in the historic Fan district of Richmond, VA with their three almost-grown children and two pups.

Nicole knows loss, grief, and failed expectations and as she emerges from that season she has a great word of encouragement for all of us. She challenges us not to miss the God-opportunities that are right in front of us, even in the hard, and to lean into truly living a life of faith through trusting God’s purposes.

This episode is part 3 of our 4 part series, New Year, Same You and today’s guest Rachel Cruze, challenges the way we think about our money. Rachel loves helping people get out of debt, take control of their money, build wealth, and actually have fun in the process!

I’m all for having goals, but we can’t strive to hit unattainable goals for the wrong reasons! However, we can make changes by putting in the small steps over a period of time! During this four part series we discuss how we go into a new year as the same self but with the intentionality to make changes in our bodies, how we live out our calling, our finances, and our expectations.

Rachel shares with us the best thing and the worst thing we could do with our money in 2024 and I hope this episode gives you a fresh perspective of what’s possible with your finances!
