  • Professionally, you might be doing the 'correct' thing but is it the right thing in the eyes of UHNW parents? You're the protector and not the nanny but you still need to gain compliance and cooperation when protecting children. And so it was a pleasure to welcome Sandra Adiarte, Founder of Apollo Synergetics to discuss:

What communication styles should you employ with toddlers when compared to teenagers? How can you communicate high risk threats to small children? How should you avoid becoming a 'buddyguard'?What additional traits or skills are UHNW parents looking for in EP when deploying around their children? What risk factors do usual EP operations not take into consideration when looking after children?

  • What if the modernization of EP is more about the protector themselves and less about the type of service offered? Following the last four years we have seen a push to include more desk based intelligence services but can anything replace the 'last ten feet'?

Join us where we review a live recording from the Ninth Annual Executive Security and CP Technology Forum in London with a fantastic international panel with representatives from the UK, Mexico, US and Germany to address the balance between the modernization of the service and those serving:

What new services will clients ask for in 2024?How can you get direct access to the principal to ask what they actually want? How is the EP scene today in Germany, UK, US and Mexico? What does the modernization of the protector actually look like?Does modernization have to mean the adoption of technology?

  • Are Master's degrees designed for your employment prospects or personal fulfilment?

This week, we’re joined by Craig Smith from Minerva Elite Performance, who shares his thoughts on the importance and value of higher education within the security industry.

In this episode, we examine how higher qualifications like Masters or PhDs could potentially differentiate professionals in this field, add value to their careers, and even provide a 'key' to open doors to opportunities.

Craig emphasizes the importance of knowing one's purpose or the 'why' before pursuing higher education and the values of institutional support and engaging subject specialists.

The conversation also touches on the impact of business and management education, and we’ll try to break down some of the perceived 'barriers' around higher education.

Tune in to hear this wide-ranging discussion including:The Allure of Tertiary Qualifications for ProtectorsThe Role of Higher Education in Enhancing EmployabilityIs there a Danger of Overqualifying Yourself? How can protectors differentiate between higher education providers? What do all the levels actually mean?

  • Instead of a single super-security specialist, is the EP firm the home of convergence because as a business any service can be bundled or offered through a partnership?

In this edition of the Circuit Magazine podcast, Shaun and Phelim speak with Andrew Peden, the founder and CEO of L5L Solutions, about the importance of breaking down silos within the risk management industry.

We delve into the idea of a 'unified protector', and ask whether professionals in the risk protection sphere should operate on a less hierarchical, more peer-level basis to work more efficiently.

Andrew underlines the significance of maintaining effective communication channels along hierarchical lines and the need to develop a strategy for achieving professional goals.

    Other topics covered include:

The Concept of Super Service in Security and what is the Future of Risk ManagementThe Importance of Continuous Learning and Adaptability and the role of the Unified ProtectorWhere does the wider EP ecosystem end?Do silos really exist, if so, what is preventing a manned guard from calling the CFO?What partners does EP 'actionable' intelligence need today and will it need in five years? What role could cross-functional teams have in developing the 'unified protector'?What does all this mean for the specialist?

  • In this week's podcast, Fred Burton, the executive director at the Center for Protective Intelligence, talks about the evolution of protective intelligence and executive protection. The discussion revolves around the increasing importance of geopolitical intelligence, the benefits and challenges of having a protective intelligence skillset, and the future of the protector role. A must-listen for anyone interested in corporate security, intelligence analysis, or executive protection.

Protective Intelligence has become an increasingly sought-after skill in the corporate security domain. Organizations are setting up their own geopolitical intelligence divisions within their internal security departments to provide analysis on an international level. There is an ongoing discussion as to whether a Protective Intelligence specialist would be more suitable or if Protective Intelligence should be an integral part of the skill set of all personnel within the organization. Protective intelligence can include areas such as surveillance awareness, med training, and open-source intelligence. Operators are advised to grow their skill sets to offer better service.

It is an honor to welcome Fred Burton, Director Centre for Protective Intelligence to the Circuit Magazine Podcast to draw on his illustrious EP and Protective Intelligence career where we ask:

Should we expect more private involvement in protective intelligence? How has the evolution of ‘ground truth’ affected EP?How can you focus on getting just what you deem important to your operations as opposed to what a third party thinks you need to know?Is tomorrow’s protector now required to pursue intelligence analysis qualifications in their free time?Do some protectors genuinely have a fear of not knowing or fear of missing out on intelligence that they should actually not be focusing on?Should protectors be empowered to highlight that some intelligence problems are not solvable? How can you educate your intelligence feed partner about how to make their feeds bespoke to you?

Discover the Evolution of Protective Intelligence and EP with Fred Burton. Explore the importance of geopolitical intelligence and the future of the protector role. Listen now!

    About Fred:

Fred is one of the world’s foremost authorities on Protective Intelligence, security and counterterrorism.
