  • This is Brad Williams, the creator of “Once Upon a Wasteland.” Our show is a post-apocalyptic science-fiction romance that follows the story of Elizabeth Kirby and Odessa Valdez. They work together to save the civilization that’s just beginning to grow in what used to be West Virginia, and fall in love along the way.

This is our Season Two Bonus Episode, a prequel to that season titled “Survey the Dark.” We drew our titles from Churchill’s “Battle of Britain” speech in our second season after using titles from Lincoln’s First Inaugural Address in the first.

We released this episode for International Podcast Day, and used the opportunity to take a bit of a breather from what’s normally a highly serialized story. We revisited some plot threads from our first season and foreshadowed some from the second, but mostly it’s a fun romp, bringing in some… colorful characters that we’ve only met this once. So far.

Thank you for listening to this showcase episode of “Once Upon a Wasteland.”

  • MODES OF THOUGHT IN ANTERRAN LITERATURE: INTRO FROM ALEX AND WINNIE

KEMP OF WOLF AT THE DOOR STUDIOS

Alex: Hi, everybody. I’m Alex Kemp.

Winnie: And I’m Winnie Kemp and together we run Wolf at the Door Studios.

Alex: And we’re the creators of the show Modes of Thought in Anterran Literature.

Winnie: Modes of Thought is a spy thriller and paranormal horror show wrapped in the guide of history lectures.

Alex: I play the professor, a classics historian who is teaching a class on what he claims is a newly discovered ancient civilization that is 60 thousand years older than anything we’ve previously known about.

Winnie: And it was found after a Chinese submarine accidentally went down in the Pacific Ocean- so the Chinese government cordoned off the area, and scrubbed the internet.

Alex: And that's why you guys can't find any information on Anterra out there.

Winnie: But that doesn't stop the professor and his students from trying to dig deeper into the mysteries of Anterra.

Alex: The episode you're about to hear is from Season 2, and it involved the mysterious ritual that every citizen in this ancient city performed.

Winnie: At least, that’s what we think. Evidence from Anterra is pretty unclear. Was this a rite of passage? A religious ceremony? Or are we waking up ancient magic?

Alex: We really hope you enjoy the show, and please join us on reddit or instagram or wherever if you want to share your theories on Modes of Thought in Anterran Literature.

Winnie: Thanks so much, and enjoy the listen!

  • "Welcome to Old Cove, a place where secrets wash ashore like the relentless tide, and the lives of its residents ebb and flow with the ever-changing currents of fate. In this sleepy coastal town, the drama unfolds with every crashing wave.

I’m Rick Clifton, director, and co-producer of Old Cove. I am submitting the first episode of the series, titled “Homecoming,” as this episode sets up the characters really well and introduces you to the overarching theme for Season One. Our first season consists of eight episodes and each episode follows the longstanding, and beloved, night-time soap tradition of always ending on a cliffhanger.

Old Cove is a spin-off of the audio series, Tomorrow’s A New Day” which was created and produced by Aaron Wallis. Aaron is also my co-producer on this series as well. • Hello. This is Paul, the co-writer and narrator of Dear Bastard! '

Dear Bastard!' is a scripted, comedy fiction podcast, set in a house that's been subdivided into apartments. All seems well from the outside – but within, the six residents are trapped in a never-ending group email thread that brings out the worst in everyone.

As they try unsuccessfully to navigate their differences, minor problems like overfull trash cans and malfunctioning doorbells begin to escalate into passive-aggressive rows about invasive species in the garden, allegations of money-laundering and fraud, and shady remarks designed to make you laugh your head off.

Full of sniping, bickering and absurdity courtesy of characters you’ll feel like you’ve known all your life, this is a podcast for everyone who’s ever had a neighbour – and made the mistake of giving them an email address.

We initially wrote this play in lockdown using first time actors , and and we hope you enjoy!

Buckle up, and welcome to the world of Dear Bastard!

  •  Hi, I'm Ian Faison, creator and executive producer of Murder in HR, a podcast produced by Caspian Studios.

Murder in HR is a murder mystery podcast starring Kate Mara and Brett Gelman. It's Jemma’s first day as an employee experience manager at Peace of Ship, an AI-powered tech startup. When her colleague Larry is electrocuted during the company all-hands, she uncovers a terrible secret. It was murder!

Now, Jemma and her chief people officer, Nicholas, are tasked with finding the killer. She must use her HR skills to investigate her toxic colleagues without becoming the next victim.

For the showcase, we're submitting Episode 1, “The Drunken Sailor.” Now, this is a murder mystery after all, so we can't spoil anything, but we introduced the killer and all the rest of the characters in episode one.

Everyone at Caspian has put a ton of work into this and we wouldn't be here without all of our listeners. Thank you so much for considering us. Thank you for listening. We hope this adds a little bit of fun to your day. And if you want to listen to more, you can look up Murder in HR wherever you get your podcasts.

    Thank you!

  • Hi, this is Bobby Aherne. I’m the writer and producer of ‘Nero’s Class’. ‘Nero’s Class’ is almost like a satire of the “inspiring teacher” genre of old movies like ‘Conrack’ and ‘Ciao Professore!’ and movies like that… ‘Up the Down Staircase’. While also being a children’s adventure series in the vein of ‘Gravity Falls’, ‘Around the Twist’, and ‘The Three Investigators’, ‘Over the Garden Wall, ‘Eerie, Indiana’… things like that. Then things on, y’know, Cartoon Swim and Adult… Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. The first series came out last autumn. There were six episodes, and the episode you’re about to hear is episode three, which is entitled ‘History 101’. In the first couple of episodes, Professor Nero… he’s like a fuddy-duddy Mainlander, and he arrives over to Mrunglody, which is a weird mythical island. And there’s three… there’s only three children on the island and they’re 12, 9 and 6. And he has to teach them, even though they’ve never been to school before and they don’t know anything about Mainlander ways and stuff like that. And rather than them having to adjust to HIS world, he finds himself having to adjust to THEIR world. So in the first couple of episodes, it turns out that the treehouse that he’s teaching them in has magical powers like the gift of flight, and can take them on these magical school tours across the world. And he gets very frustrated, because all he wants to do is teach his curriculum and teach his class. Yet they end up going on all these different adventures, which obviously the kids love. This is the third episode and, as well as Hugh Cooney (who plays Professor Nero) and our three amazing child actors (Penny O’Dwyer, Elsie Akinduko and Rian Sheridan), this episode also features a cameo from John Hodgman… which is very exciting. Please enjoy and thank you for listening!

  • This is Rex New. I’m the showrunner of The Hacker Chronicles, a podcast from Tenable and Caspian Studios that stars Michael C. Hall and Chloe Taylor. The Hacker Chronicles is about Alice, a barista who turns to hacking in order to pay off her debts. At the end of Season 1, Alice pulls off a devastating hack on one of the world’s biggest food conglomerates, bringing its East Coast operations to a halt for a few days.

Alice almost gets away with it – only to be caught by another hacker, a man she knows only as John Doe. John Doe offers Alice a deal: she can work for him, or he’ll doxx her to the FBI. Alice takes the deal.

And as we pick up in Season 2, blackmail doesn’t seem so bad. Alice is in Europe doing some mysterious operations for John. And she’s trying to balance her roles as a friend and sister with her secret life.

For the Nominee Showcase, we’re submitting Episode 1 of Season 2, which is called “Friends with Benefits.” I think it’s a great introduction to the show, even if you haven’t listened to Season 1. It has almost all the members of our incredible cast, who I can’t say enough positive things about.

You’ll also get to see just how we approach hacking in the show as well. We make this show with the cyber-security firm Tenable, and everything you see in the show has either happened or actually could. We do a ton of research, and we’re committed to making an entertaining story that you can learn a lot from. I know I have.

On behalf of our team, thanks for listening. If you like what you hear, check out our podcast feed, where you can binge both seasons. And make sure you take a listen to some of the other nominees. There are some incredible shows out there and so much creativity.

    Thanks again!

  • This is Joanne Phillips, writer, director and producer of Everyone’s Happy, which is a near-future, dystopian, coming of age story about a young woman, called Parker, who lives in a world where everyone is medicated by the government – medicated through their food to be happy and calm and controlled. There are some people, though, who are immune to the drugs, and for those people the consequences are horrific. So, Parker is left a set of old-school recordings by her grandmother, and this gift sets her off on a journey of discovery. She lives in a dome-covered city where society is protected from the effects of climate change; there are themes around what it really means to be happy, about identity and freedom, but most of all I hope you’ll find it just a really good story.
