This week my guest is Craig White who I first heard on Russel Earnshaw's Podcast the Magic Academy.
Craig is doing some amazing work and has had a helluva journey to get to where he is now, starting off as a hard nose rugby league player and strength and conditioning coach right though to being a yoga instructor and talking about love.
He has a couple of websites worth checking out, Men without Masks and Craig White Mentoring, below is an excerpt from this website, https://www.craigwhitementoring.com/
"Over the last 25 years, I've been on an incredible journey of self-discovery. A journey that has taken me from the power lifting gyms of America to the temples of India, from the rugby fields of England to the jungles of Peru, from my head and into my heart."

This week my guest is Dr Carl Woods who is a Senior Research Fellow in Skill Acquisition at Victoria University in Melbourne Australia who enjoys exploring and knowing at an ecological anthropological intersection in sport.
I had heard Carl on a number of podcasts and was so excited to be able to spend some time listening to his view on the world which I have to say I love.
There is no real intro on the chat as we hit the ground running and just got straight in to it.
I am very grateful to be able to do this podcasts and have such great guests and a loyal community, if you listen often I just want to say thank you and I hope you enjoy them as much as I love doing them.

This is a pretty special episode for me. Not because it is my 100th episode but more because I was back where it all started with my old mate, live on Facebook with such a cool community.
I loved being back online live and seeing the names of the community pop up with questions and comments and it made me reflect on how incredibly grateful I am to have started this and made so many great connections.
A special thanks at this point to a couple of people who helped make this happen at the start, obviously DG but also my good mate Scott Curtis.
We cover some cool shit in this chat and the key bit that really stuck with me was DG saying “we need to magnify magic everywhere and have this as part of our language”
Anyway If you would like to connect with DG check out his website https://www.habitofgreatness.co.nz/ and in particular his online mindset courses.
Thanks for all your support over the 100 Episodes

This week I am joined by Hugh Gilmore
Hugh has worked with All Ireland winners, world champions and Olympians delivering sport and performance psychology to organisations such as British Weightlifting, Paralympic Powerlifting, Weightlifting Ireland, Northern Ireland Netball and British Athletics, as well as a wide range of elite coaches and business professionals seeking personal development.I have followed Hugh's work for a while and was particularly interested in his insight into Motivational Interviewing
As we all know influencing behaviour change is not easy and while we are told the questioning approach is a great way to do this, I think to do it skill fully is challenging and that is where I believe Motivational Interviewing has some gold.
If you would like to find out more about motivational interviewing check out Hugh’s Website https://podiumpsychology.com/ where there is information about his online courses.
I hope you enjoy the podcast and as always it would be great if you could subscribe and share it with your mates.

Rob Waddell has one of the most impressive and diverse sporting resumes in the country, he has played rugby for Waikato, Won an Olympic gold in the single skulls in Sydney 2000, has a black belt in Judo, raced for Emirates Team NZ in the Americas cup and for the past two cycles has been the chef de mission for the NZ Olympic team.
I didn’t know rob I just happened to be fortunate enough to sit next to him at a recent Chiefs game and asked him to come on the podcast, he was very humble in accepting suggested I must be scrapping the bottom of the barrel to want him, as you will hear in the next 40 minutes Rob has so much to offer and I cant wait to get him back on -
Today I am joined by another one of NZs best coaches Shane Mcleod
Shane coached the New Zealand Mens Hockey Team, the black sticks at the 2008 & 2012 Olympics and after a disappointing games in 2012 he took some time to reflect, slowed down to speed up and came back a better coach
That evolution led to coaching the Belgium mens hockey team to Olympic gold in Tokyo to go with the World title in 2018 and European championship in 2019.
We are lucky to have him back in NZ for a little while and after listening to this you will understand why, Shane brings so much which can help any team whether that be in business or sport
As always if you enjoy the podcast it would be great if you could share it with your friends and even leave a review where ever you listen to your podcasts -

This week I am joined by Australian Mark Mathews (markmathews.com)
Through his career as a professional ‘Big Wave’ surfer and Red Bull Athlete, he has become obsessed with the relationship between personal growth, high performance and fulfilment
He has a documentary about him called the other side of fear which is a great watch, ….. man I got nervous sitting on my couch watching the big waves on the documentary let alone paddling out in them.
I must admit I found it fascinating when Mark described golf as the sport that messes with your head… I still cant comprehend how you can compare a short putt to a 50 foot wave.
I hope you enjoy this chat and as always please share it if you like it and even subscribe to the podcast.

This is part 2 of my chat with Bill Bestic.
Bill is a former soldier in the NZ SAS and currently is an Anaesthetist at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney and is a recently qualified commercial helicopter pilot.
I would recommend listening to Part 1 as it will provide some context to this half of the conversation -
This week I have something a little different, I am joined by Bill Bestic and this session will be broken in to part 1 and part 2 as he was kind enough to spend a fair amount of time with me
I have always had a fascination with the SAS and that is how I stumbled across Bill was searching for podcasts with SAS soldiers. I was immediately captivated by Bills humility and his ability to reflect on what he had learnt, take a look at himself first and then evolve his skills
What I also found fascinating was once Bill finished in the SAS he trained to become a doctor and then an anaesthetist which he now does at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney , oh and also he become a commercial helicopter pilot over the last couple of years too!
I was intrigued to dig into the different leadership styles and environments between general population and the military and if there is stuff we could learn from either environment.
Bill is a fantastic learner and thinker, there is so much to learn from this episode I trust you will enjoy it and part 2 will come out next week. -
This week I am joined by world cup winning netball coach Dame Noeline Taurua
In the 2018 Commonwealth games NZ lost to Jamaica in the bronze medal match, their worst ever result in a Commonwealth games
After the games Noeline Taurua was appointed as head coach and fast forward 11 months and the Silver Ferms had beaten tournament favourites Australia 52-51 in the final to be crowned world champions
In this chat you can see why Noeline is so successful, her attention to detail is high and the standards she sets for herself and those around her are even higher, but she does this with all the love and support required to get the best out of people.

Oli has a real passion for skill learning and has some awesome insight into how we adapt and learn skill, particularly in cricket.
He dives in to the importance of the context of the game and prior information when it comes to decision making.

This weeks guest is Trevor Ragan from The Learner Lab which is one of my favourite places to hang out as it has so much great content.
When I reached out to Trevor I thought it was ambitious as I'm sure he is a busy man, to my surprise he replied within minutes saying he would love to come on.
His curiosity and enthusiasm for this topic of learning shines brightly through out the podcast and he offers so many wonderful insights and strategies to help us all break down the barriers of learning new skills.
I hope you enjoy the yarn and it would be great if you could share it with your mates and even leave us a review. -
This week my guest is former Olympian and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Anna Simcic who is now an athlete life advisor for HPSNZ
It was really interesting to hear Anna’s journey from being an athlete to being someone on the other side of the fence and supporting our current athletes.
I loved her insight in to the balance of how we can support athletes who want to train hard while also maintaining their well being
As always if you enjoy the show I would love for you to share it with your mates and join our facebook community under Talking performance.

This is the first episode of season 4 and I think you will agree it is a pretty epic way to get 2022 underway. Unfortunately I didn't quite nail the sound, so it is not my best work, which is a shame and I apologise for that.
I am joined by performance psychologist Jonah Oliver, who works with a number of professional athletes, surgeons, entrepreneurs and business leaders and after this chat I think you will know why.
Jonah does a fantastic job of making the complex word of performance psychology easy to digest in a relaxed manner which makes you (or at least has made me) review our relationship with pressure.
I hope you enjoy this chat and as always if you have a minute it would be great if you could leave us a review wherever you listen to your podcasts. -
