  • Welcome to the ninth episode of Super Good Juice. This week we speak with Kris McMeans, who in her early 30’s, has what many would describe as quite a squiggly career!

Having fallen under the spell of LOTR behind-the-scenes footage, Kris was determined to pursue a career in film. Having achieved this, and facing the loss of her beloved brother, she packed her bags and relocated her life from Texas to Wellington.

Landing herself a sponsored job, Kris found herself in the world of technology, and nearly six years later, she hasn’t really looked back.

We cover a lot in today’s career conversation, from doing what makes you happy, realising that a more traditional 9-5 work life was a pretty appealing concept, her experience as an immigrant in NZ, finding a pathway in the tech space and a whole heap more.

  • Mamma mia, and welcome to this, the 8th episode of the Super Good Juice Podcast!

In this episode, we have succumbed to the requests of our listeners to do an episode on ourselves. We were incredibly nervous, and pressing submit has given me a rash, but we have to step outside of our comfort zones too!

We kick the episode off by answering some questions we received from some of our Instagram friends and then get pretty personal about some of the key people, decisions, challenges, and lessons that have contributed to shaping our respective careers.

We hope you enjoy this episode. 😊

  • Welcome back to Super Good Juice! In episode 7 we interview Zoe Carson who, for over a decade, has cultivated an impressive career in the advertising industry.

Having studied law and Spanish at uni, her career kicked off with an internship in Dubai, she moved back to Auckland, had a stint in London, and moved back to Auckland in 2019 with a fresh perspective, a completely different role, and her very own personal career BHAG.

There’s another part to Zoe’s story, and it’s a personal one. Zoe was born with a cleft palate and lip; she opens up with us about the health, mental, physical and social challenges she has faced with the condition, and how all of this has influenced or shaped her. Persistent and a natural problem solver, Zoe is now on the board of Cleft NZ to raise awareness and boost advocacy for adults with cleft conditions.

We cover so much in this episode, from luck to grief, first impressions to crises, puppies to toxic work cultures, the importance of looking after your mental health and so much more.

We love today’s episode and especially thank Zoe for her vulnerability and candor.

Thank you for listening in! We love you so much!

  • Episode 6 of Super Good Juice is here! In this episode, we’re joined by one of NZ’s most recognisable faces, Tia Woods. At 15 years of age, Tia won the coveted Girlfriend magazine modelling competition and was swiftly thrust onto the international modelling circuit kicking off a 15+ year modelling career. But as things naturally started to slow down, and seeking a bit of career stability, Tia moved agency side taking up a role as a booker at her own mother agency, Clyne.

In this episode Tia talks about embracing opportunities, the importance of having a plan B, the difficult decision to cut ties with Clyne, and the joy she’s experienced co-founding her own agency, Super Management, with her friend Katherine Lowe.

And this just touches the surface, we talk aaallll about the modelling industry, what-ifs, FOMO, tennis, and heaps more. Take a chance, hit play and enjoy!

  • Uni and your 20’s can really fly by. A lot happens in those years and it can all feel like a bit of a whirlwind. Today we are speaking with Maddie Ashby who at nearly 32 yo, has recently survived her 20’s!

This self-described nerd took a relatively traditional post-high school route, heading to Otago University, becoming a lawyer, testing the waters in the legal field working for one of the big three law firms, NZTE, and in-house at Stuff, before landing at ACC and carving out a sustainability function into her commercial relationships management role.

Maddie is one of those people that seem wise beyond their years, she has an enviable self-awareness that empowers her to reflect and address some of those not so ideal habits (stress), make tough but decisive career decisions, as well as the confidence to tackle the unknown.

We also talk regrets, identifying and showing gratitude to those hidden mentors, the solace she’s found in hobbies, her intuition and so much more!

  • Welcome to the fourth episode of the Super Good Juice Podcast, the career podcast for everyday women, by everyday women.

In this episode hosts Mary-Jane and Bridget interview Katie Duncan, Director of White Tie Catering and White Tie Health Services in Christchurch. And what a whopper of a chat this one is!

Winding our way through Katie’s career we talk about her time in journalism, her stint at Saatchi & Saatchi in London, working for and then taking the reins of her family’s catering company with her business partner, expanding their service offering into the aged care space, and how she deals with a constant internal calling to feed all the children of Aotearoa.

She also talks candidly about the past decade-plus as they lived with and navigated the Christchurch Earthquake and its aftermath, confronting the loss of her beloved father, having babies, the Christchurch Mosque shooting and most recently covid.

Katie's is a story of resilience (though she’s rightly sick of hearing that), a deep commitment to people, an unwavering passion for what is right, and so much more.

Hold on to your hats, this episode is a long one, but it’s a good one.

  • In today’s episode, Mary-Jane and Bridget talk to Gabrielle Butler, known to most as Gabby.

Gabby is the quintessential Change Maker, leading organisations in New Zealand and abroad through complex change and transformation projects. And at 62 years old, she has no intention of slowing down. With covid prompting her return home to New Zealand last year, Gabby sits down with us to talk careers, imposter syndrome, OE’s, her legacy and a whole heap more.

Empowering others to be the best they can be is one of the biggest themes throughout this episode, and it’s Gabby’s infectious zest for life, people, learning and pushing boundaries that really demonstrates that she doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks the walk.

  • In today’s episode, Mary-Jane and Bridget speak with Lauren (Ren) Joe.

The first thing to strike anyone who meets Lauren is her abundantly warm, open heart. Her career story is one of compassion, of making an impact, and striving to create a better world with every interaction she makes, big or small.

In a   moment in time where there is a deep sense of urgency, Ren has been quite happy setting her own pace; in this episode she talks about her time at high school as Head Girl, dropping out of uni, working to travel (rinse and repeat), returning to uni, co-founding an organisation supporting charities, up until now in her role as a Community Development Practitioner.

This is a wonderful kōrero with ever-present themes of empathy, kindness, fairness and being true to yourself. We dare you to be inspired!
