  • Episode 10 is a deep dive into stalking types, characteristics of stalkers, and useful information to help victims of stalking.

    TRIGGER WARNING

After recording this episode a victim of domestic violence sent me a recording of a DV incident. I feel this is very important for people to listen to. It gives a real insight into the terror and helplessness a stalking victim feels. If you feel this may trigger you, I suggest you not listen to this episode.

  • Stalking is prevalent in Australia. There are hundreds of cases reported every year. These people’s existence has been besieged by a stalker. Survivors often are voiceless and have no place to tell their stories. This podcast is giving a voice to these victims. A place to tell their stories. Hopefully, we can help others who are in this terrible situation to fight back.

We are so grateful to be chatting in today's episode with Megan Norris. Journalist and author of, among others, "Look What You Made Me Do", "On Father's Day", and "Love you to Death". Megan has a keen interest in stalking, the victims, and why stalkers do what they do.

Literally, millions are stalked every year, yet there is still so much stigma, silence, and shame around this subject. It’s time we speak up. Together, we can all break the silence on this unacceptable, illegal, and far-too-widespread behaviour.

EPISODE NOTES: Michelle met her stalker at a giveway sign. You can meet people anywhere. Things were great in the beginning, but things went from bad to worse pretty quickly. From black eyes, to choking, to eventually having a price on her head.

In this episode we talk to Scott. Normally when we think of stalking victims we think of females being stalked by an ex male partner. Scott has been stalked for 20 years by a women he has never had a relationship with. It's the most bizarre story..ever.

Bringing up children is a hard job any day of the week. But throw into the mix two young children with maladaptive behaviour, and a young mother who has just undergone spinal surgery, leaving her in a wheelchair during recuperation. Now, what was needed here was a nanny who could fly in like Mary Poppins and help Shannon with the children and chores. What flew in was a mother's worst nightmare.

  • Have you ever been love bombed? Love bombing happens when someone overwhelms you with loving words, actions, and behaviour as a manipulation technique. It can be very flattering in the beginning but can soon become overwhelming when they pressure you into rushing into things. For example, planning marriage or moving in together when you've only known each other a short while. Rebecca went from being loved bombed to installing security cameras to seeking an AVO from the courts.

  • In this episode we will hear from Daniela. Can you even imagine, having a relaxing bath, covering yourself with a towel, leaving the bathroom, only to find your stalker standing in front of you?

Lyndall did not want her real name used, so we decided to call her Diane. After calling her Lyndall twice, in error, we laughed about it and she was fine then going by Lyndall. Lyndall was in an abusive relationship for 10 years. She talks us through her journey, including a broken arm by her stalker, avo breaches and eventually having to move from the small town, where everyone knows your name.
