A new three part series looking at the UK’s social housing crisis, how we got here and what the future holds. The series charts the status of social housing from the late 1970s to the present day, explores the different solutions being offered by the public and private sector and investigates how solving the crisis could transform our society at large. Throughout the series you will hear from people on the front line of the UK’s social housing crisis - from those on waiting lists to those building homes as well as those campaigning to make a difference. Making Sense of Social Housing is hosted by Tortoise Editor Jeevan Vasagar. The producer is Adrian Bradley and the executive producer is Jasper Corbett.
Making sense of social housing is produced by Tortoise Media together with Lloyds Banking Group, who are the biggest supporters of social housing, supporting around £16 billion of funding to the sector since 2018.

Have you ever wondered about the “glamorous” lives led by beautiful cabin crew or well-navigated pilots? Well, it’s not necessarily about the shopping we might do, the beaches we sun-bake on, or the hotels and restaurants we frequent. In fact, it is often about experiencing countries from the farthest corners of the globe, and seeing first-hand the many sad and horrific situations faced by these societies. As a result, many selfless airline crew are deeply involved with a number of lesser-known charities and non-profit organisations around the world, dedicating their time and money toward helping the disadvantaged. Whether it be vulnerable children, migrant worker conditions, or perhaps animal cruelty, Hatrack Heroes! aims to raise awareness of these organisations, and give you an insight into their day to day lives. In this podcast we find out what these charities are doing, who they are, and how they are dealing with the issues faced. By listening, we hope these emotional and heartwarming stories will impact you in some way, even if it just makes you THINK!

Welcome to Homelessness Matters, a podcast by Emmaus.
We take a fresh approach to understanding homelessness. In every episode, you’ll listen to someone who has actually experienced homelessness, sharing their real stories. In Season Two, we go beyond individual experiences and also ask important questions.
Is homelessness just about a few people’s own situations? We think there’s more to it. By talking to experts, we explore how larger factors in our society can lead to homelessness. Each episode will explore a different topic, featuring a guest who has faced homelessness and been supported by one of 30 Emmaus charities across the UK.
New episodes will be released every two weeks until December 2023. If you enjoy the podcast, please help to spread the word by leaving a review.

We depend on public services for a functioning society. But there are record pressures on our health, social care and children’s services; and those covering homelessness, housing, domestic abuse, education, employment and training, criminal justice and support. Resources are stretched. Demand is escalating.
Traditional approaches, whereby public authorities either do everything in-house, or outsource services with the same process as when they buy goods, are not delivering good outcomes. The market has failed many people-centred services. We can’t just despair at these challenges. We must do better.Vitalising Purpose investigates how partnerships between public authorities and social enterprises can make a difference to how public services are provided, and to people’s lives.
It gives inspiring examples of the ‘social enterprise difference’, and practical ideas, and accompanies the book, Vitalising Purpose: The Power of the Social Enterprise Difference in Public Services, available in paperback and ebook formats. -

A few years ago I was a broke, university dropout, at 18 I built an industry leading social media marketing company, and at 27 I resigned as CEO. At 28 I co-founded Flight Story – a marketing and communications company, and thirdweb - a software platform, making it easy to build web3 applications. I then launched private equity fund, Flight Fund, to accelerate the next generation of European unicorns. During this time I decided to launch 'The Diary Of A CEO' podcast with the simple mission of providing an unfiltered journey into the remarkable stories and untold dimensions of the world’s most influential people, experts and thinkers. Thank you for listening.

The Break represents the gap between what you see as an ideal lifestyle and how you build a plan to actually get there. For me, Patricia Bright, this began in 2009 when I was creating beauty and fashion content for YouTube alongside being a student and working at an investment bank. After seven years I hit one million subscribers and learned a lot of financial lessons the hard way en route. So, in 2018 I founded my first company, The Break.
I founded this network for women like me, to demystify the journey to personal success and provide access to the tools and education needed to improve financial literacy and bridge the gap to our ideal lifestyles. Now, in 2023, The Break community is 500k+ strong. I was able to navigate the world of personal finance as a fashion-lover, parent and content creator because of open and honest conversations with my own network of family, friends and mentors.
This podcast is an open door to those conversations I’ve been having, so you can learn from the people that I look up to. In each episode expect to hear well-known voices delivering never heard before insights on success AND failure, as well as a level of honesty about personal development that you won’t get elsewhere. The Break will support you in learning, growing, navigating life like a boss, and making money move in the process.
Please subscribe, rate and review and if you like what you hear tell a friend to tell a friend. Watch the full video version on The Break YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/@The_Break and follow us on socials: https://www.instagram.com/thebreaksocial/ -
