  • While describing the Overtraining Syndrome, I had promised about explaining the various types of training. And here I am keeping up that promise! I have tried and covered almost every frequently asked questions! But if I have missed any, please let me know through the Hub's Forum. This podcast is going to be straight into topics. This area cannot be made very interesting as it is very theoretical and dry. I have tried making this less complex to my maximum capabilities. Also I have added a tabular chart at the very end of this blog. It will be of a great utility to have a quick reference in your future. I would like to suggest that you can make this easy if you can imagine yourself in the ground. Please listen through the entire podcast and let me know if there is something you would like to know.

  • Yes, Yes, I know not many are a fan of it! But I also know, quite a few are die hards of these for bodybuilding and some heavily sponsored sports. But the science of supplementation and its necessity are hardly understood!!

Controversy is a Möbius strip in the field of research and so is the settlement on deciding the best time for having the appropriate supplementations in a workout schedule. Few fitness aficionados love having protein after workout and a few the opposite. But I have also heard many of them complain that having carbohydrate supplementation before training gives them a bloating feel initially but later the body gets accustomed to it. Few have also said, it makes it completely impossible to consume carbohydrate drinks prior to workout on cardio days. And the other part of the crowd prefers protein shakes to carbohydrate ones. So much of terms, so much of recommendations, so much of references and thus so much of confusions. Listen up to this podcast and  understand the science and mechanism of action of the supplements so that we can script our own schedules.

The concept of supplementation does not jus revolve around mere proteins and carbohydrates. As there are various types of supplementation. Each of them is a huge concept and involves a lot of understanding. My old-man says:

" Too much of information in a short period of time is only a waste of time. Give your audience the time to process it and the curiosity to access it!"

So I have planned to explain each of the below listed aspects very briefly in a separate blog. All you gotta do is click on your favourites from the list. (Well, you might have to wait a bit for it. Keep your curiosities higher!)

In a nut shell, I want to emphasis that the dietary aspects of training must be left to a dietician or sports nutritionist. They have been qualified to do that part of the system. Coaches and trainers must not recommend the dietary regards based on their experience, expectations and perceptions. It takes more than that to understand the functioning system of the body.

  • Deciding the quantity is a major step for coaches and trainers. Volume, load, intensity, frequency - all these terminologies have always been a cumbersome process as it is largely dependent on each individual's adaptation and response pattern. The scale moves too less - "Detraining" and too much - Overtraining ! Let's now focus on deducing the appropriate "much"!!

Overtraining is a phenomenon that appears in as a result of imbalance between training and recovery levels. With persistent hardcore training protocols, the athlete might strain so much that his exercise levels would exceed the body's ability to recover within the given recovery time frame. This would result in a significant decline or a plateau in the athlete's performance. Monotonous programmes, high volumes and unmonitored intensities can predispose the athlete to overtraining syndrome. It causes a reduced or lack of stimulus in the central nervous system reducing the strength and fitness.

  • It dates back to few centuries, but is being extensively exploited only recently! Feels good and promising. Yes !! It is a bit crude in its presentable form and certainly has a few demerits. It was known as “Kaatsu training” in Japanese language, meaning “training with added pressure.” Kaatsu training is now performed all over the world and is more commonly referred to as BFR training. This is a wonderful technique and to have a deep knowledge of this one, is something you can boast about. Well, nothing is boon only, knowing the banes just makes you further valuable. Have a driving time where you don't want to waste on random songs? Well this podcast is an effective alternative!!
