Avsnitt

  • Better late than never, that's what they say, right?

We're back with a slightly delayed finale to series 3 - apologies for the delay, live got in the way, Christmas happened, David got stuck in America, and circumstances generally became extraneous....

BUT - we can offer you now, the full version of our random word generated Nativity - see how words like GLUE, MOUTH & SCREW have shaped the story of Christmas.... Listen now (in January) or save it up for December this year - it's entirely up to you - like a choose your own adventure book...

NOT ONLY THAT - but regular listeners will know that we run a song competition / contest to help showcase all of your songs - and now we can unveil the runners up & winner of that contest. Obviously we're not going to tell you who that is in the blurb, you'll have to listen and find out!

Thanks for listening to our little podcast so far, we'll be back again soon in 2023 for series 4, and we've already got some exciting guests lined up!

    Happy Christmas!

  • It's nearly Christmas, but we're not getting festive just yet - we've got far more pressing business to attend to, including a return of Masters of The Scene to the Song Contest / Competition, another building block on the way to the Nativity, and Phil discovers how to write a song with AI.

But most important of all, we speak to the amazing comedian, writer and 1990 East Leinster under 14 triple jump bronze medalist DAVID O'DOHERTY.

We hear how David got started, how he embraces the DIY ethos, early Edinburgh collaborations, recording an album in his car, and modestly avoid mentioning his many award wins.

  • Welcome back to SONGS IN THE KEY OF LAUGH - with this bonus episode for series 2 - we present MONSOON - an improvised dictionary musical.

For our second series, we improvised a song each episode. We'd take a dictionary, choose a word at random and write a song around that word. With each episode, and each new song, we built a narrative, and now we've gone away and polished it all up, ready to present to you MONSOON - THE MUSICAL!

Join David & Phil on their journey from the land of Weasel, hear as they are shipwrecked by a Monsoon, rescued by pirates, tapdance, juggle, hop and more.

Will David be re-united with his love, Sumo? Listen & find out.

    It's quite silly.

Written & Performed by Phil Nichol & David Tims.

You can listen to the original, dictionary-spawned demos on the episodes of Series 2.
