Hey Team,
Today I want to talk to you through something we've been talking about a lot with clients recently...
Letting things go!
In teaching there are so many expectations, challenging situations and, let's be honest, conflicts some times!
It is really, really difficult to let things go and move on...
But at this time of year, with Christmas and a new year around the corner, I wanted to share some therapeutic strategies you can try if you'd like to go into 2024 a little lighter!
I hope this resonates with you and have a great weekend!

Hey Team,
Today we're talking about Gratitude!
I know what you might thinking, but bear with here...
Gratitude, when practised properly, isn't some wishy-washy concept where we toxically vibrate positive into our lives and ignore struggles and hardships.
Gratitude is now strongly supported by a bed of brilliant research into the brain and neuroplasticity.
If you're sceptical, I encourage you to listen to today's episode even more...
Below are some of the names of the researches and dates of published research, studies and articles if you'd like to read more - just give one a Google!

Hey Team,
Today I want to talk to you about something that’s been coming up a lot in coaching calls this week: the struggle of allowing ourselves to do, or even think something, of giving ourselves our own permission.
Alongside other mindset barriers like the negativity bias, focusing on perfection and a short-term mindset, I think struggling to give ourselves permission is one of the biggest blockers I see for teachers wanting to make a change with their health.
Something’s not quite right, you don’t know what, but there’s a misalignment - you’re just not happy...

Hey Team,
Today I've got another Teacher Talks episode for you, a podcast I sit down with some of the amazing people in the education space who are doing incredible things in the education space.
I'm here with Dan Chaplen of Teachers' Run Club, an amazing organisation focused on getting teachers, and children, up and active and building transferable skills through movement.
This is a fascinating conversation and I really enjoyed chatting with Dan, especially the relatable, compassionate but practical approach he takes.
You can find more from Dan here at his Instagram page and here at his website.
Take care and I'll see you in the next one,
Charlie

Hey Team,
I hope you're doing well! Today I've got an important episode for you all about burnout.
Burnout is a topic which is thankfully being spoken about more and more in schools, but it's still mostly misunderstood...
Today I want to explore burnout, cover what it is and isn't, the symptoms of burnout, the stages of burnout and what we can do right now to address it for ourselves.
I hope this is an interesting listen and I'll catch you here for the next one!

What regrets will you have on your deathbed?
Horrible question I know…
If you're still listening, I really hope this episode today will be useful.
In the team, we've been talking a lot about the book “The Five Regrets of the Dying” by Bronnie Ware.
It's an inspiring and intriguing book which sounds incredibly morbid but actually, I found it extremely moving and motivating.
So whether it's your healthy habits, something at school, an issue with family or your relationship - whatever it is - as Jim Carrey said, “You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.”And I don't know about you, but I don’t want to wake up in 50 years and have it a head full shoulda, woulda, couldas! I want to get to the end of my days and look back and smile and think, “That was a pretty awesome ride - I'm happy with that.”
Don't you?

Hi Team,
Welcome back to another Teacher Talks episode. This week's episode is with the brilliant Ruth from Peachy Wellbeing.
Ruth holds a Bachelor of Primary Education degree and this has given her a 19-year career working in mainstream primary schools.
In both her last role as Assistant Principal and her current role as Head of School, her main aims have been to provide support to staff in terms of wellbeing and mental health.
Over her career, she has worked with many outside agencies such as Autism Outreach, Behaviour Support and CAHMS, ensuring that the pupils in her care (and their parents) have had the best education and support possible.
She has had copious amounts of CPD in personal, social and emotional development, behaviour management, philosophy for children and she holds a certificate in the teaching of PSHE.
There is not enough support out there for teachers and she’s made it her mission to protect, empower and support those within her team to have a positive outlook on life and grow in confidence to stand up and take back their wellbeing.
And now it's time for her to help others on a wider scale.
In our conversation we chat about what wellbeing means to us, the challenges all of those who work in school face, support for ECTs, building boundaries and having a life outside the classroom.
What I really love about Ruth is how she is clear but caring with her message and places a real emphasis on empowering individuals to take action.

Hey Team,
Thanks for joining me once again for another episode of the podcast!
Today I want to talk to you about my journey with my relationship with exercise: from hating every moment and yo-yoing for years, always being "on or off the wagon" to consistency and enjoyment!
These 3 changes I made had a huge impact on my mental and physical health and this'll only compound over the next 10, 20, 50 years!
I really hope today's episode is insightful and I'll see you back here Monday for a special guest episode with Ruth Damson of Peachy Wellbeing!
Take care Team!

Hey Team,
I'm back with a bit of a longer episode discussing 7 mindset shifts that you can make to help you manage your life-work balance, workload and overall mental health this year.
September is a massively overwhelming time - I don't think that needs any explaining...
But it's also a great time to set out your stall, build new boundaries and think about the life you want to live this academic year.
I hope you enjoy this episode!

Hey Team,
I know, I know - you don’t want to hear it…
But we’re coming to the end of August and the new academic year is now fast approaching.
Some schools have already started going back and those of us who haven’t are probably thinking about it.
Despite that bit of unwelcome news, I’m not actually here to get you to think about going back to school - in fact, I want to help you enjoy the end of your holiday!
Today I want to give you 3 reminders to help you in managing that back to school anxiety and to make the transition to term time as smooth as possible for you.
They’re nothing you haven’t heard before but I believe if you can carry these with you, you’ll massively reduce the pressure that can pile on around this time of year…

Hey Team,
Today I wanted to share an area of teachers’ wellbeing that rarely gets talked about.
It might be because most conversations and advice around school wellbeing centres around teachers’ wellbeing: focusing on your job - not you as a person.
If we take a second and apply the lens of “human first”, we quickly see that talking about school, workload, pinch points, pressure, school culture and everything that comes with it is really only half the battle - that addresses the teacher, not the human.
I want to talk to you about nurturing the real you outside the classroom today to help you keep that holiday feeling going as we transition back to term time...
-
Hey Team!
Today we're back with another Teacher Talks episode for you - it's been a while!
This episode we have Will Hawkins, Therapist, Coach & PT with us chatting all about taking an individual approach to transitioning to the summer, switching off and setting boundaries next year!
This was such a great conversation and I know it will be a really beneficial listen.
You can find more about Will here on LinkedIn or here on Instagram!
If you enjoy the episode, please do share it with a friend, colleague or a loved one to support them in rewriting their wellbeing.

Hey Team,
Today I’ve got another mindset episode for you that I think you’re going to find really interesting...
It’s Not All About You: The Spotlight Effect
Have you ever walked into a quiet room and instantly thought that people were talking about you?
How about feeling those nerves that take over before leading an assembly or presenting to your colleagues for the first time because of all those eyes being on you?
Or even worrying about what to wear, rehearsing a conversation in your head so it goes well or feeling anxious to go to the gym or run in public?
All of these thoughts and emotions are, of course, completely valid but there’s a reason they crop up…
Sometimes, just by understanding why something happens we can feel empowered to do something about it, or at least begin to work on it.
As you might have guessed, the reason we feel like all eyes are on us is because is because of a cognitive bias called The Spotlight Effect...
I hope you find this useful Team and if you do, please do share it with a colleague, a friend or a loved one and help them to rewrite their wellbeing!
