  • This episode started on a sad note with Jamie and his posse finding a Dutch family burned alive and their house charred to smithereens. The young daughter of this family seemed to survive (somewhat) being burned alive but Roger decided to heroically take Jaimie's lead and put her out of her miserable existence of being raw with burns and melted into the ground. Jamie says a prayer as Roger suffocates the girl with a cloth.

While Toddler Jemmy played with Otter Tooth's opal, he discovered that it was too warm for his hands and he covered his ears which signaled to the family that he was receptive to the gift of going through the stones and that was all the confirmation they needed before they made plans to leave one week later. Claire ends up telling Ian about her ability to time travel after finding Otter Tooth's journal and realizing it was written with a ballpoint pen. Ian wishes to time travel with them but is told that he cannot.

Aunt Jocasta's black servant, Ulysses, was forced to kill Gerald Forbes in self-defense but is now on the run because of fear for his life. Regardless of the situation, it is never okay for a servant to murder a white man during that time. We soon discover that Ulysses has been serving Aunt Jocasta by his own free will and he has been a freed slave since her husband died.

Lord John Gray came to visit before he heads back to England and leaves Jaimie a picture of his biological son. This leads to Jamie telling Bre about her half-brother, William, before she leaves.

Bre, Roger and Jemmy finally get to the stones and pass through to a land unknown to the viewers. Ian attempts to go through, but nothing happens for him.

Lionel Brown and his crew try to oblige Jamie to join their security group and fight for their cause but Jamie firmly declined their offer. The episode ended with Lionel Brown and his Indian group  kidnapping Claire and leaving Marsely knocked out unconscious on the floor.

He brings her to his home and forces her to teach him how to be a gentleman. For her own survival, Brianna goes along with it, eventually begging Bonnet to let her go back to Fraser's Ridge to grab Jemmy. In the end, Bonnet ends up trying to sell Brianna to a man for sex. But Jamie, Claire, and Roger arrive just in time to stop the exchange. Brianna decides to have Bonnet tried by the law, and he is sentenced to drowning. Before Bonnet drowns to death, Brianna shoots him in the head.

  • Before the Battle of Alamance, Brianna races into camp to warn Claire, Roger, and Jamie that this will be the battle that some historians consider to be the catalyst of the American Revolution. Jamie sends Roger to speak with Murtagh about this so that Murtagh might stop his troops from fighting. In the end, to Jamie and Roger's dismay, the battle commences. Roger finds himself fighting for his life against his own blood, Buck, as the battle wages on.

In one of the most emotional moments of the show, Murtagh ends up dying, and Jamie brings him to Claire so that she might work her magic and bring him back to life. But Jamie quickly realizes he needs to come to terms with Murtagh's passing.

At the end of the episode, Brianna, Claire, and Jamie find bodies that have been hanged. As Jamie reaches for the body who they believe to be Roger, the three brace themselves for the worst.

  • Roger finally takes a win for coming up with a smokin' solution to get rid of the locust plague, which also wins him favor among the people of Fraser's Ridge. Roger's idea from a nursery rhyme saves their crops from a blanket of locusts.

We see a flashback of a younger Aunt Jocasta in a scene where her daughter was shot while trying to smuggle the wrong King's gold. This gold awarded her with status and riches that she believes also punished her with blindness and a life of regret.

On the night before Jocasta's wedding, Murtagh reappears professing his undying love for Jocasta in hopes to have her cancel the wedding festivities and wait for his bounty to blow over.

Jocasta signs over River Run to her nephew and Bre's son - Jeremiah. This could mean a lot at stake if Bonnett exploits his potential position as Jeremiah's father.

Phillip Wylie spots Claire at Jocasta and Duncan's party and Wylie pursues her all the way to a knife at the throat by Jamie. Wylie attempted to force himself on Claire after she learned of his business dealings with Bonnett and showed interest in their arrangements. To get closer to Bonnett, Jamie devises a plan for Wylie to gamble away his prize horse in exchange for Claire's beloved gold wedding ring from Frank. Where is the respect for wedding vows in this episode? Everything can be bought with the right barter.

    ABOUT OUTLANDER:
Outlander is an American-British television drama series based on the historical time travel Outlander series of novels by Diana Gabaldon. Developed by Ronald D. Moore and produced bySony Pictures Television and Left Bank Pictures for Starz, the show premiered on August 9, 2014. It stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall, a married World War II nurse in 1945 who finds herself transported back to Scotland in 1743, where she encounters the dashing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and becomes embroiled in the Jacobite risings.

In 1945, former World War II nurse Claire Randall and her husband Frank are visiting Inverness, Scotland. Exploring the standing stones at Craigh na Dun, Claire faints after she touches the highest stone, and awakes to find herself in the middle of what appears to be a skirmish between Redcoats and rebel Scottish Highlanders. Rescued from an attack by Frank's sinister double, Redcoat Captain Jonathan "Black Jack" Randall, she uses her medical training to help the injured Scotsman Jamie Fraser. Claire realizes that Randall is Frank's ancestor, and that she seems to have traveled backward in time to 1743. Her skills earn her a place at Castle Leoch as a healer, but she is a veritable prisoner of Clan MacKenzie and cannot travel to the stones to try to return to her own time. Claire and Jamie get closer, and she comes to understand that the Scotsmen are covertly collecting funds for the Jacobite army. Knowing from history that their cause is destined to fail and many Highlanders will die, Claire tries to warn them off. She learns that Randall and Jamie have a bitter history, and Jamie marries Claire to protect her from the sadistic Randall. Claire and Jamie realize they have feelings for each other, but she is still torn thinking about Frank. In 1945, Frank is losing hope that he will find Claire, just as she is delighting in her new marriage to Jamie in the past. Both finally ready to accept that they are lost to each other, circumstance brings Frank and Claire to the standing stones, two centuries apart. They hear each other calling through time, but before Claire can touch the stones she is captured again by Randall's men.
