  • Helene Sader talked about the history of Phoenicia; the alphabet, culture, and important figures.

    Helene Sader has been a Professor of Archaeology at AUB since 2001. She received her PhD from the University of Tuebingen 1984. Sader specializes in the archaeology of the Levant, mainly the Iron Age, and in northwest Semitic epigraphy. She acts as co-director of the Beirut 020, Tell el-Burak and Tell Kubba projects.

  • Tariq Tell talked about Middle Eastern geopolitics; war, geography, and political history of the region.

    Tariq Tell is a Jordanian scholar and activist. He is the author of "Guns, Gold, and Grain: War and Food Supply in the Making of Modern Jordan" and co-editor (with Eugene Rogan) of "Village, Steppe, and State: The Social Origins of Modern Jordan." His manuscript, entitled The Social and Economic Origins of Monarchy in Jordan, is due for release in January 2013

  • Georges Corm talked about the concept of the Orient and its relation to Europe.

    Georges Corm is a Lebanese economist. He served as Minister of Finance in the government of Salim El Hoss from 1998 to 2000. He studied at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (1958-1961) where he graduated in Public Finance and has also a PhD from Paris University in Constitutional Law (1969). His books have been translated into several languages. In 2018, he was the recipient of the French Academy Prize for his book La Nouvelle Question d’Orient (The new Eastern Question) published in Paris in 2017 by Editions La Découverte.

    جورج قرم اقتصادي لبناني. عمل وزيرًا للمالية في حكومة الرئيس سليم الحص من 1998 حتى 2000. درس في معهد الدراسات السياسية في باريس حيث نال على شهادة في المالية العامة وفي جامعة باريس حبث نال على شهادة الدكتوراه في القانون الدستوري. تمت ترجمة كتبه إلى لغات عدة. في عام 2018، حاز على جائزة الأكاديمية الفرنسية.
