  • I’m back on home turf for this week’s Monday Mile! It’s exciting to be back in Belfast, and even more exciting to be chatting to world champion MMA fighter Leah ‘The Curse’ McCourt (@leahmccourtmma). She’s the #1 Featherweight fighter in @bellatormma, as well as a Black belt in Brazilian jujitsu and judo. Basically, she’s a savage
Our walk takes us near the SSE Arena, where Leah was due to fight Sinead Kavanagh for the second time last month – but the fight never happened due to a HORRIFIC injury Leah suffered in training. Leah reveals exactly what happened, and talks about the pain of missing out on that opportunity (and also the very real pain of her broken rib!)
She’s both fearless and friendly, which I discover as she opens up about her tough path into MMA, including her training AND working full time while raising her daughter, and being early to the game in women’s MMA. Leah’s keen to share why she thinks it’s the most exciting sport in the world, but also what might need to change about the sport – specifically when it comes to those brutal weight cuts -
    Thanks for joining me, Leah!

  • A brand new Monday means a brand new Mile, and in today’s ep I’m joined by British TV legend @greggawallace. You’ll know him as a judge on @masterchefuk, but you may not be as familiar with his mission to transform our country’s health through his lifestyle platform @greggwallace.health.

I catch up with Gregg in the middle of filming Series 20 of MasterChef, where he tells us how the show has stayed fresh after decades on the air. Television is a mad world to navigate even if you’re not as busy as him, so I ask him about how he manages such a hectic lifestyle. He plans meticulously, and squeezes a lot in - including plenty of time with his wife Anna and youngest son Sid, who has severe Autism.

Strict planning also helped Gregg achieve huge weight loss in recent years. He cut out fast food and snacks and started centring his diet on healthy, hearty meals. Now Gregg helps others do the same through his website GreggWallace.Health, with the mission of halting the fast-rising obesity crisis striking our country. It’s a noble cause!

There’s lots to take away from our chat – which is ironic as I won’t be touching one of those for a while…thanks Gregg!

  • #MondayMile is back! This series we’re taking the Mile to some very special locations – kicking off with a @pandocruises ship! I’m joined by boss chick @cherryhealey, best known as co-presenter on Inside The Factory, and her for own documentaries on @bbcthree. Cherry and I cover a lot of ground, quite literally, as she takes me on an in-depth tour of the ship.

I learn all about her onboard wellness workshops, as well as her own health and wellness journey. Cherry is perimenopausal, and we chat about the stigma associated with ageing, as well as the lifestyle adjustments she’s made as her body’s changed. Cherry also makes sure to pay tribute to the woman in media who paved the way for open discussions about the menopause (@davinamccall, @mariella_frostrup, @penny.lancaster) which is SO important!

I also probe her about the new love in her life, who she met through a dating app. We talk all about the new modern ways of finding love and how staying open is the key – not sure if she’s quite convinced me to redownload Raya yet though. Maybe it’s all down to the power of manifestation; Cherry’s got so much good going on her life, so she tells me how she talked the universe into sending it her way. I think we can all learn from that one!

So pleased to be kicking off this new series with a fantastic chat with a fantastic woman. I’ll see you on a wellness cruise very soon, Cherry!

  • Joining me on #MondayMile this week is @jason_carl_fox – author, mental health advocate, former Special Forces operative and current SAS: Who Dares Wins Directing Staff.

During an incredibly brave and vulnerable chat, we dig deep into Jason’s life and career. He tells all about his path into the military, and how his natural desire for challenge drew him to the Special Forces. We also touch on the reality of SAS: Who Dares Wins, including how it compares to real SAS selection (it doesn’t), whether he feels bad for tormenting recruits (he doesn’t) and whether he thinks I could handle an interrogation scenario (he DEFINITELY doesn’t). He also spills all about THAT viral Matt Hancock moment.
Jason is also incredibly open with me about the lowest point in his journey – an abandoned attempt to take his own life. After, being diagnosed with PTSD in 2012, Jason was discharged from the military and was left to wrestle with drastically changed personal and professional circumstances, sending his mental health spiralling. He talks about his rock bottom, and the moment he decided to be honest with himself and others, take therapy seriously and do the work to save his own life. It’s powerful stuff, and it’s really amazing to hear it from a man like Jason, who now uses his own story to help others.
One of the most important episodes we’ve ever done – thank you so much for sharing with me Jason!

  • This week on the #MondayMile podcast I’m joined by radio DJ and TV presenter @melvinodoom, best known for his BBC Radio 1 show @rickiehw and @charliehedgesdj.
Melvin and I take a walk around some familiar territory for him in snowy Central London to discuss a wide range of topics - and even whip out some (questionable) dance moves .

We relive his journey into radio, including how he formed a treasured family unit with partners Rickie and Charlie. We also bond over the difficulties of modern dating, including the awkwardness of the apps and dating in the public eye. Melvin’s mantra is to be open to anything, which I love.

Melvin also tells me about his experience on last year’s Celebrity Save Our Sperm, including what he learnt about his own health and how he’s seen it help other men examine their fertility.

Not only is she a Mother, a wife, she’s former athlete, a broadcaster, author, writer, and fellow podcaster. The word professionalism can be banded around lightly, however this women encapsulates everything that word defines. There’s great and there are The Greats, and Gabby Logan is one of them.

We speak about how it felt to commentate on the @lionesses historic win at the 2022 Euros, her iconic sign-off – ‘You think it’s all over, but it’s only just begun’ - and the progress and development of women’s sport
We also speak about her family, and the influence of their ‘competitive’ household. She tells me how proud she is of her fantastically talented kids, twins @reuben_logan and @_loislogan, and how proud she is that they’re pursuing their dreams, as well as how it felt to compete against her husband @kennylogan11 on Strictly Come Dancing

  • This week on the #MondayMile podcast, I’m joined by Team GB rugby player and Olympian Abi Burton. Abi shared the incredible story of her struggle with encephalitis, a rare autoimmune disease that left her in a medically induced coma.
In the spring of 2022 Abi’s teammates first noticed that she was acting ‘strange’, and she was originally diagnosed with depression. She then began to have seizures and was sectioned with a misdiagnosis of stress induced psychosis. Eventually, she was diagnosed with encephalitis and put into a medically induced coma for 26 days.
Whilst we stroll around West London, we get into the mind-boggling story of Abi’s illness, how it affected her parents and how it has changed the way she views her life now. Abi’s now firmly focussed on balancing her own rugby aspirations with coaching the next generation of players, as she hopes to be able to continue to shape young girls lives. It’s super inspiring!
Abi’s story is fascinating and I hope all you Monday Mile listeners will agree!

You can find more about Abi on the NEW Sporty AF series from Team GB. A group of inspirational female athletes laying all cards on the table.

  • On this week’s #MondayMile podcast, I take in the sunny sights of West-London with former Strictly Come Dancing professional and TV personality @aj11ace
AJ’s competitive spirit led him from the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent to the ballroom of Strictly for four wonderful seasons. He’s also wowed the judges with his apple crumble on Celebrity MasterChef, and he took on the jungle in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

We chat about his decision to leave Strictly, and why he felt it was his time to move on and say yes to other opportunities. He also opened up about his perspective on his brother @curtisprichard12’s Love Island experience, and the importance of having a good support system after leaving a reality show. We also talk in depth about how he stays happy and healthy, his fitness routine and his daily ‘eggs on toast, a cup of tea and crappy tv’ – a solid combo if you ask me.
Thanks for chatting with me AJ! I loved hearing about your passion for learning and how you stay balanced and healthy - all things we love on the Monday Mile!

  • On this week’s #MondayMile podcast I’m joined by fitness instructor, television star and all round bundle of energy Mr Motivator.

Mr Motivator shot to fame in 1993 when he joined GMTV, leading fitness sessions for the nation, and following up with a best-selling line of fitness videos. He’s kept up his mission of fitness for everyone in recent years; he joined the BBC’s HealthCheck UK Live during lockdown to help us keep fit at home, and he currently leads regular home workouts on social media.

Our chat is filled with inspirational gems. He tells me how he channelled his positive mindset into success, going from a struggling single father leading classes in his local leisure centre to training celebrities and exercising with the nation on television. We also talk in depth about spreading joy, finding inspiration to move, and his aspirations to become Prime Minister (I’d definitely vote for him!)

A huge thanks to ‘Mote’ for joining me on this week’s episode. It’s hard not to feel inspired when you’re walking around with a man who’s high-fiving people in the street!

  • On this week’s #MondayMile podcast, I’m joined by entrepreneur, tv presenter and ex-Love Island star Scott Thomas.

When Scott shot to fame in 2016, he was known as a bit of a party animal. In recent years, he’s completely turned his life around after making the decision to go sober. As well as being an obsessive Padel player (like me!), he has several successful business ventures under his belt - a PR agency and a wellness brand, as well as a podcast and a TV series with his brothers Adam Thomas, Ryan Thomas and his late father.
We talk about what drove Scott to finally make the decision to give up booze, and how trading in two-day benders for 5am starts has transformed his life. He talks intensely about his drive to succeed in business, and what he thinks about the shadow of Love Island hanging over him.
Family is a consistent theme of our chat. Scott opens up about his relationship with his famous brothers, discovering their lineage on Mancs In Mumbai, and how much he loves being an uncle. We also tackle the topic of grief head on, as he tells me how his family banded together to process the loss of their father.
Scott's energy and passion for wellness are infectious, and hearing how he turned his life around to achieve his goals is inspiring. Scott, anytime I am in Manchester I'll see you down at the Padel Club in Wilmslow for a doubles match. You and Adam v me and Katya - it's on when he’s finished in the ballroom!

  • On this week’s #MondayMile podcast, I have a lovely little chat with Olympian, sports broadcaster and all-round boss lady Dame @realdeniselewis.
Denise is a legend of British athletics. She specialised in the Heptathlon, and became the first European to bring home the Gold medal at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. She’s received numerous accolades in her lifetime, and became a Dame in the 2023 New Year Honours. We take a rainy walk around Primrose Hill and speak about this impressive career, starting from her humble beginnings in Wolverhampton, to competing at the highest level of athletics.

These days you’re more likely to find her in a studio than on the track, and we talk about it feels to commentate on those who have come after her. We also touch on representation, and how important it is to see diversity within sport.
I ask Denise about her most satisfying physical challenge – an intense rowing excursion on the TV show ‘Don’t Rock The Boat’. And of course, I couldn’t resist asking the honour of receiving a Damehood. I do agree that Dames should get free parking - seems like a no-brainer.
Denise is a pioneer and a complete inspiration to be around - I loved having her on the pod!

  • On this week’s #MondayMile podcast, I link up with former England national rugby union team captain @Chrisrobshawrugby to talk marathons, mental health and forming new routines after retirement.
Chris has had an impressive career, having played for London’s Harlequins and Sdlegion as well as captaining the national team. He announced his retirement in October 2022, and opens up to me about adjusting to life post-rugby; from his shifting identity and physique, to finding new hobbies and challenges. We talk about how he pushed himself to run the London Marathon earlier this year - and why he’ll never do it again
We also dive into the current state of rugby, discussing the recent protocol changes on head injuries and concussion, the stigma around the sport, and how he feels about the future of rugby.
Away from rugby, Chris also reveals a softer side – who would’ve guessed that he loves romcoms as much as I do?
I loved chatting with Chris! He’s chill and down to earth – a real joy to be around. He might not be down for another London marathon, but count me in for a romcom marathon anytime.
