  • The direct to the point, unreserved storytelling of Barbora Kajtarova's motherhood story makes this a valuable episode for other moms who are dealing with hyperactive kids. She tells us in this talk how it all started when her then four-year-old daughter was kicked out of her swim class, how she dealt with it, how did she take it in the beginning. And then, to finally seeking for help from professionals who guided her with a tailored approach that has been helping her in making sure her daughter reaches her full potential.

Barbora also talked about her childhood in Slovakia. How different her childhood was to her kids. Also, do you know that in Slovakia maternity leave can be used until the child reaches the age of three? Barbora shares her point of view on this one.

You can follow her on Instagram @dubaimomster for tips on how to handle extremely active kids, we can also see a glimpse of why Dubai offer such a lifestyle that is easy and as I have said in the interview, "Heaven!"

  • "I don’t like seasonal stuff. I have no interest in making my house an extension of Hobby Lobby."
It is just September, and whether you admit it or not, you are already preparing for Christmas. You have few more weeks to think about these two hacks I have-- from minimizing house clutter to using the clutter to add some happy, pleasing decor under your tree and then to having "Christmas pajama" alternative that you can wear all year long.
This episode also talks about the "aha moment" of this podcast-- by talking about about the careers of other moms in the hope of inspiring stay at home moms who would want to have their own career in the future and other moms who are thinking of shifting to other careers. There will be more talks of motherhood and careers in the coming episodes.
For this week's low is how we have been dealing with our son's tantrums from not getting bottle fed anymore. I hope you take a listen.

  • When you think of how companies give you efficient, almost seamless service, do you ever think of how it all happens? Do you ever give a face to people you call? Who resolves your issues? Who provides solutions? Who makes sure your experience is always seamless? Asking few of these questions is nothing when you think of all the solutions that BPO/ BPM employees provide all over the world, especially in North America.

Ysa Rase-Apayat is one of the faces of the BPO/ BPM industry. When you listen to Ysa– well-educated, articulate, churchgoer, a wife, a sister, a mother– think of the last time you demanded for an easy and quick answer from one of the multibillion-dollar companies that are already part of your everyday lives. Someone like Ysa from 8,000 miles away is answering to all your demands. Yes, Ysa has moved up in her career in the BPO/ BPM industry. But that only means more obligations, too. But as you can see, she is doing that and at the same time making everyday happen for her family. Her two kids. She doesn’t work the graveyard shift anymore, but still some from the more than a million Filipino BPO/ BPM workers have made their nights into their working hours.

She is one of the many faces of Filipinos answering your calls when you have a credit card dispute, Evaluating your problems and complaints to provide proper solutions, proofreading legal documents that are needed overseas, researching, processing orders and so much more. Those are just a few of the tasks that the industry solves for you. Ysa has done one or two or all of those and more for you. Doing all that and at the same time being a mom who takes care of her kids, making art projects with her son with the cereal boxes, walking with their dogs to streets she would not even dare walk on in the past, going to church twice a week, getting foot massages from her husband. That’s the image that you can have when you are calling for help from all the familiar companies you see on billboards, magazines, on your phone.

Ysa’s story in this industry has been good. According to her, it has been great. Through the industry, she is able to get excellent medical care. With her husband, they are able to send their son to a good school. It is a good life. They have family around them who could help when they need extra loving hands to care for their kids. It is a perfect set up.

Ysa exudes the same coolness I knew from 15 years ago. The way she talked about the tough choices of having or not having a surgery while pregnant just shows you how calm and collected she is. Confidently smart, calm under pressure with a positive outlook in life. You just feel it. No wonder companies abroad go search for people like her.

  • This episode will be about how I find mom friends. And how I see the importance of having one for the benefit of my son. My opinions and ideas about this topic are my own, I do not suggest these to people who know they are not good at judging characters. It is important to know that I am not skeptical in meeting people or making friends, but the truth is I am also choosy and observant.
The beginning of the episode also tackles my highs and lows for the week-- not finding time or energy for this podcast, having a mom friend move to another country. My high reminds me of Taylor Swift's speech at NYU, "not to cringe away from cringe." Before, during and after saying what I said about my high...I have been cringing. But, as what me and my husband agreed on, I wouldn't be me if I do not talk the way I talk on my podcast. I hope you take a listen.

  • What is your COVID project? In this talk, Sofie Fribo talks about how she came about posting her illustrations on Instagram which then eventually led her to her own book. She talks about her art and how it helps her with her daily life in her husband’s country where she is still learning the language. She was able to share her and her husband’s take on HYGGE– a Danish concept that doesn’t really have a direct English translation. In this talk, Sofie gives examples to explain it better. It also translates to how they manage their social media pages.
Sofie also made a very compelling explanation on how motherhood gave her a better understanding of the world and people around her. Listen to her talk about motherhood and it would feel like being in a trance. It will give you a deeper understanding and maybe an even deeper appreciation of your own motherhood journey.
