  • Queensryche: Book Author Brian Heaton documents the live history of the Seattle Metal Band during their formative years through the peak of their commercial success with the original Band lineup in his new book “Roads To Madness: The Touring History Of Queensrcyhe 1981-1997”

We’re joined by Author Brian Heaton, to promote the new book “Roads To Madness: The Touring History Of Queensrcyhe 1981-1997”, a book that covers the Seattle Metal Band during their formative years through the peak of their commercial success with the original Band lineup. Brian shares why he decided to make a book as a natural follow-up to the website he ran for many years that archived the Band performances, setlists, the cities & venues they played at, the Bands they supported & the ones who opened for them. Additionally, he comments on including images of the great memorabilia that comes along with the concert experience: ticket stubs, concert photos, backstage passes, t-shirts, etc., how he obtained them & how the fans played a bit part in helping him piece together the book because of their contributions. Also, the Author provided great insights into the origins of the Band when they were called The Mob (1981) as a Cover Band, Geoff Tate joining, getting signed to a major label, opening for Quiet Riot, Dio, Twister Sister, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Ozzy, AC/DC, & Bon Jovi throughout the 80s, their rise to fame while on the road with Def Leppard & Metallica supporting “Operation Mindcrime) & becoming an MTV staple & arena headlining act while promoting “Empire”.

  • In this episode, we’re exploring the new James Durbin CD “Screaming Steel”. Durbin is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Santa Cruz, California. Metal heads associate his name with his appearance on Season 10 of American Idol (2011), where appeared with Judas Priest for rousing renditions of "Livin' After Midnight" and "Breaking the Law" and also appeared with legendary guitarist Zakk Wylde. This was followed by Durbin’s debut album, 2011’s “Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster” that blended a mix of hard hitting riffs, vulnerable lyrics, and Durbin’s signature screams.
In this interview, James relives his experience sharing the stage with Judas Priest, then takes us on his musical journey post American Idol, leading up to him joining Quiet Riot, then FINALLY releasing his first true heavy metal album “The Beast Awakens” in 2021, 10 years after American Idol. They also discuss James second heavy metal release, the new “Screaming Steel”, just released in 2024. James’s share’s his metal influences are deep in classic heavy metal with the likes of Dio, Sabbath and Iron Maiden.
