The Potter's House has received much criticism throughout its existence and has been labelled by many as a cult.
Major areas of criticism include the level of control exerted over its members, the intense level of commitment required, and the shunning and mistreatment of those who have left the church.
The church has been accused of brainwashing its members resulting in the blind following of church beliefs and the division of families.
According to their site They are an International Fellowship of over 3000 “churches” in 130 nations. The churches within The Fellowship are usually known as The Potter's House, The Door or Victory Chapel.
Alan Eby knows firsthand the abuse that takes place because he was once one of them.
Birthed into this place during an April conference in Gallup, NM. He soon became a pastor’s kid at only 6 years old.
He lived almost 30 yrs inside this place that has been branded a cult from professionals that study these type of high control systems.
He trained diligently to climb up the ladder to become a leader of his own church. The countless hours of non paid work for this place and at the end he says he’s left with so much shame and regret for some of the actions he was persuaded and taught to proclaim and do.
Today after finally walking away from The Potter’s House after almost 30 years Alan is trying to further his career as an independent artist but says he suffers from feeling so behind then others in this industry because of so much wasted time he gave away to this so called church.
As he continues to heal from his experience inside The Potter’s House Alan hopes by sharing his story that it will bring community and encouragement to others that have walked away from this same place.

As a shamanic healer and spiritual teacher, I channel information and my own teaching from my shamanic ancestors and spirit guides. We all have suffered and we may find ourselves believing that we ‘need’ to suffer or continue to suffer to earn our worth in this lifetime. We can find ourselves digging into the truth of what our pain and suffering did TO us and then later often after a spiritual awakening we learn what it did FOR us. And then we find ourselves subconsciously feeling like we are meant to continue to suffer. In this episode I talk about this and how we can release the belief that we have to suffer.

Christina’s Journey in the Potter’s House Church (cult) began in 2001. But her story is a little different in the fact that she did not choose this “church”. She was married into it.
After being forced to attend or be homeless, per request of her in-laws. She chose to attend.
What she experienced in this horrific environment is something you would only imagine watching in a movie on t.v.

From physical violations (emotionally, physically, se*ually) to watching girls as young as 15 yrs old be married off.
Grooming & manipulation, being isolated from “outsiders”, to witnessing men that had accusations of terrible violations but still being allowed to become “pastors” (cult leaders). And so much more.
How did she finally escape?
It wasn’t until she did something that was not allowed that she was able to find the help to take the risk.

Just 15 yrs old Juanita Estrada Brown began being love bombed into a church
by the name of
‘The Door’ Christian Fellowship Church in San Antonio, Tx. The year was 1987. But what Juanita didn’t know was this “church” had been in the media for its cult attributes.
It wouldn’t be until years after she left that she would realize it had in fact been a real cult.
What started as a knock at the door. A prayer. Invites for ice cream. Would eventually lead to encouragement to become a teen bride. Juanita began to feel something was not right.
While other teen girls around her were married off. Juanita chose to graduate high school and go to college instead. A decision that perhaps helped her eventually leave that environment in 1995.

Angela grew up the daughter of one of the cult leaders in Canada! She became a teen bride inside the cult, as women & daughters are pressured to marry as teenagers. As a teen bride she endured horrific abuse at the hands of her “husband”. After a vicious attack she was told to endure it and stay married. Divorce was worse, they said.
