In this months episode we chat to David Gillick about his recent new found love for all things road running. David is a very well-known former Irish international 400 m athlete who represented Ireland at the Beijing Olympics and won numerous medals during his career including a world indoor 4 x 400 m relay bronze medal and 2 x European indoor 400 m Golds. We also talk to Lusk AC club member and Lusk Sports Hub Junior Parkrun Director Claire Davis about running with MS, chatty runs and her passion for Parkrun. In our second episode of the year we talk to Áilis McSweeny a former Irish international sprinter and 100m record holder. Áilis talks about her background in running and athletics and about Sanctuary Runners, a solidarity-through-sport initiative which uses running, jogging and walking to bring together asylum seekers, refugees, migrants and all Irish residents. We also meet Lusk AC member Pat Whelan who organises and leads very popular strength and conditioning courses at Lusk AC's Olympic Training Centre.

On this episode we talk to David Matthews, who is a double Olympian having represented Ireland in the 800 m at the Atlanta and Sydney Games. He is the former Irish record holder for the 800 m and 1000 m. He is also a broadcaster with RTE, and works for Athletics Ireland and is the meet director for the Athletics Ireland NIA live events. Dave talks us through his career and tells us all about the NIA live events. We also talk to Lusk AC Club member and Lusk 4 mile Director Annette Foy about the forthcoming 4 Mile race, which will take place in Lusk on the 3rd March 2024.

On this episode we talk to former Kerry senior Gaelic Footballer Aidan O'Mahony. Aidan, a 5 time All-Ireland winner with Kerry, is also a community guard. He talks to us about his enjoyment of running, his charity work with CRY and also offers some valuable advice on how best to keep safe whilst exercising and running. In episode 12 we focus fully on preparation for Dublin City Marathon. We chat to Dr. Ciara Losty, a sports psychologist about the different strategies we can employ to successfully navigate the challenge of running DCM. We also talk to Elaine McGowan, a leading dietician and nutritionist, about runners stomach and nutrition pre, during and post a marathon run. We also hear the pre-marathon thoughts of some Lusk AC club members in a series of vox pops and voice notes.

In episode 10 we chat to Dick Hooper, one of Irelands best known marathon runners. Dick, a Raheny Shamrock AC member, won six national marathon titles, and DCM three times including the inaugural DCM in 1980 and represented Ireland at three different Olympics. We also meet Lusk AC vice chairman and development coach Aidan McKenna, who talks about coaching at Lusk AC, Lusk AC's training facilities and his hopes and ambitions for Lusk AC going forward.

In episode 9 we chat to Catherina McKiernan one of Irelands greatest long-distance running athletes. Catherina is currently devoted to teaching and inspiring a new generation of runners and is a sought-after fitness trainer and an expert on the mechanics of safe, injury-free running. In episode 7 we chat to Dr. Colin Griffin a well-known strength and conditioning coach at the UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic about strength and conditioning for runners. Colin, who is also a certified Level 3 Endurance Coach with Athletics Ireland, enjoyed a 15-year career in elite sport as an international athlete representing Ireland at all levels, including the European and World Championships and the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games in the 50km walk. We also meet Lusk AC public relations officer and keen runner Sean Greensit. We hear about Sean's love for running, his volunteer roles at Lusk AC and his longstanding involvement with Parkrun.

In this episode we interview Lilly-Ann O'Hora who is the Women in Sport Officer at Athletics Ireland. We discuss Lilly-Ann's background in athletics, the importance of female participation and leadership in athletics as well as the programmes Lilly-Ann has developed and implemented such as 'Forerunners' and 'Girls Squad'. We also meet three young Lusk AC athletes, Daniel O'Brien, Ross Moore and Cara McNally to discuss their love for athletics, their weekly routines and some of the challenges they have faced and opportunities they have been presented with to date.

On episode 3 we talk to Aoife Hearne who is a former 100 m national senior champion, the current Irish record holder for 55 m and a registered dietician.
