  • When Janine Bolon was young she was struck by lightning. This was an experience that (obviously) she lived through, but is the driving factor that inspired her not to waste time by living an unfulfilled life. Janine’s original life goal was to be a scientist and have as many different types of experiences as she could. She loves people and enjoys helping them achieve the dreams they’ve set for themselves. It is great fun to assist them as they move from living paycheck-to-paycheck into an abundant life! Janine has worked as an analytical biochemist, homeschooled four children, published 8 books (and counting) and was married to her college sweetheart for 30 years. In 2010 she was called into active service by the Thunder Clan. She says she was pulled into her life’s purpose. That purpose is to teach, write and guide spiritual seekers of all paradigms into a deeper relationship with their Source AND teach folks about the spiritual, emotional and physical laws that work within financial abundance. Through her writings and online courses, she shares how to expand your intuitive gifts as well as help you uncover the blocks you have to improving your financial situation. For the more analytical seeker, she's been labeled as a Financial First-Responder. For the spiritually minded her label is a first chakra healer. No matter what label you prefer to call her (just don’t call me “late” for dinner!). Janine is here to share with you how to gather Money, live debt-free and leave the living paycheck-to-paycheck life behind.

  • Today we celebrate a blast from my past who is very much thriving and living a great life in Indiana. Back in my early days in small-town radio, April wrote a weekly column for the local paper on arts & entertainment. Well-loved and admired, she helped pioneer the CO Roaring Fork Valley's comedy scene, kicking it off on a high note on one of the finest stages in Aspen, and eventually creating The April Clark Show. Join April and I for a little walk through the past, what she's up to now, having taken on perhaps the most rewarding project of her lifetime as a wife and mom in the chicken capital of Indiana. Hear about the untalked-about souvenir that many formerly pregnant women carry and April's part in the beginnings of that little blue pill.

April Allford is a Purdue University and Poynter Institute for Media Studies alumna who seeks out creative outlets in her life. The Society of Professional Journalists, Colorado Press Association, Colorado Mountain News Media and Purdue Exponent have recognized April for her notable writing and graphic design achievements. In Aspen, she was introduced to stand-up comedy as part of a narrative reporting assignment. She continued writing her weekly newspaper column and taking the stage on the Western Slope of Colorado before moving back to the midwest and starting a family in her 40s. She spent time on different comedy stages in Denver, where she won a scholarship to attend Louie Anderson’s comedy camp, and once opened for Leon Redbone when he played in Carbondale, Colorado.

  • Joy Ruffen has always had a keen eye for fashion, design, and style. Around the age of 13, as a
budding seamstress, her home economics teacher pulled her aside in awe of her intuitive knowing of
harmony and balance. These words resonated and a future-stylist was born.

She won the “Best Dressed Award” from the School of Design in Cleveland, Ohio. And, in a
moment she’d never forget, her sense of fashion and natural eye for design principles were were enthusiastically pointed out by the head designer in her first position as assistant designer at “Smartee,” a leading sportswear brand.

Joy went on to study at the world-renowned Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. It was here that her awareness of style, attention to detail, and her killer instincts landed her in the exciting world of Fashion Merchandising.

Today, Joy stands for professional women, both young and mature to shine as the intelligent,
sophisticated, and classy women they are so that they can excel in their careers. While it is true
that “you can’t judge a book by its cover,” in the business world, however, those that dress the part
have the greatest chance of being catapulted into success. She believes that all women can still
incorporate their own sense of style while coming across as polished and professional, an art form
that has been slowly dying in our current culture.

Joy works as a Style and Leadership Coach, and Public Speaker. Her passion and purpose is for
women to feel incredible about themselves on the inside and to look equally amazing on the outside.
She teaches how to acquire the look of elegance and sophistication, with ease. When her clients
walk into a room, they command it by projecting confidence, integrity, and charisma, firmly
    standing in their power.

  • REPLAY - Originally aired 3/26/2020

    Re-airing in honor of Father's Day - June 20, 2021

    Guest:
    Christoper Salem
CEO Empowered Father’s in Action (EFA)
    www.efamovement.org
    www.christophersalem.com

Special thanks to Fruition Studio www.fruitionstudio.com

In this episode, Christopher Salem says today’s global situation, while understandably devastating to many, can be a blessing in disguise. It brings people together and is an opportunity to reset the playing field. Chris believes strong interdependent family structures lead to strong communities and businesses.

EFA was formed by Chris and Joe Cohen (Author of Right Father, Right Son).
Chris was influenced by Joe’s book. Interviewed Joe and saw a synergy and mutual belief that dads play an important role in the development of children. The EFA process was born out of this collaboration.

EFA trains facilitators to bring the process to the communities. They have also partnered with Dream Smart Academy to get the program out to communities.

    More Notes:
How to get from where you are now to healthy thriving family relationships. Getting caught up in perfection and expectations causes obstacles. Strive for harmony, be in the present, have grace when you fall short. Be focused on the process, strive for harmony not perfection.
Let go of control - you can’t control what children, spouse, others do.

Break pattern of pleasing and enabling (co-dependency)- empathy and kindness is interdependent

Is it easy? No Perfect balance? No It’s all about harmony

    Tips for today:
This situation shall pass. You can only do your best. Clear, specific communication is key.
People learn from what they observe. Set the example.
Relate and understand. Then be clear about expectations and what the day looks like.
    Strive for that harmony.
Know it’s a process and do the best you can.

Kids need to feel heard, as we all do.

Keeping things in perspective and clear, we can begin to develop solutions.

Control what you can, letting go of what you can’t. When you’ve mastered that things will start to change for the better.

We get in our own way. You vs you, we vs we

EFA’s wish is for every family to put that into practice.

Give without expectation. Receive without resistance.

  • My dear friend, actor-sing-dancer 25-year old Web Heyliger, along with his producer/editor/friend Temo Fregoso, joins us to talk about the The Web Heyliger Show on YouTube. The first episode premiers on Friday, September 25.

Web decided to tell his story on Youtube as a way to promote his unpublished memoir (working title Fabulous at 45 Degrees - a reference to his scoliosis.) As a way of connecting with and supporting others going through their own challenges and difficulties fitting in, Web shares his take on being gay, born with one lung, scoliosis, working as a background actor in Hollywood, his first kiss, how he came out to his parents, life and what he’s still learning.

I brought Web on the show because of his unabashed way of just being Web. He is a delightful, happy person who lives a large life being authentically himself. That life is not without it’s challenges and we certainly explore those. I am thrilled that his partner in the The Web Heyliger Show and an established Youtuber in his own right, Temo, was able to join us.

Some of the snippets from our conversation include:
Boys playing with Barbies and wearing high heels
    Self-acceptance
    Being homeschooled
    Living authentically
Too gay to sell real estate?
Web’s fascination with mega-star Jennifer Lopez, and the J-Lo dolls that travel the globe with him

  • Today’s guests are co-founders of The Resting Mind, co-hosts of the podcast Make Your Life Magnificent with Jackie + Mimi, and certified life coaches who work with us Generation X women on the things keeping them up at night. We’re talking things like finances, marriage, career, aging parents and anxiety.

These ladies help Gen X women create sustainable change using proprietary tools that combine brain science and energy leadership .

You may have seen them in Business Insider, Entrepreneur, Thrive Global, Tiny Buddha or TEDX. Please welcome today’s guests, Jackie Ghedine + Mimi Bishop.

Jackie and Mimi looked around and realized there weren't many resources towards their GenX peers. All the while, women in this age group were struggling with finances, aging parents, special needs kids and now Coronavirus, homeschooling and more. They launched The Resting Mind based off an article, then book, by Ada Calhoun, titled "Why We Can't Sleep."

They strive to help women give themselves permission to focus on what THEY want vs serving everyone else's needs and expectations first.

Generally, they have found that GenX women know they are unhappy, but they don't quite know why. This generation has both the freedom and the pressure of being the first women that truly had career choices, such as doctor vs nurse and CEO vs secretary. Add to that all the normal parenting, relationship and career stresses and now a pandemic and volatile social climate, and Jackie & Mimi have seen their business grow helping women in 2020.

They talk about tools such as The 8% Rule and the Worry Log to help their clients reframe stress and anxiety, raising energy levels and confidence. A big part of the puzzle is to help GenX women and all humans to understand that we have more choice about what happens around us than we think.

No longer do you need to live with your off-the-charts chronic stress. Learn to develop practices for stress-filled moments and understand your stress triggers so you can change how you respond to them.

  • Wisdom is all around us, according to today's guest Tom Martin, and today he takes us on a journey through some of what he's learned. He drops names as humbly as you've ever heard before and has great and equal respect for folks from all walks and avenues of life. For more than 30 years, he has been "a storyteller," using a variety of media platforms. For 20 of those years, served as a television news producer, producing stories for Diane Sawyer at ABC News and for Charles Kuralt at CBS Sunday Morning, as well as stories for CNN, Public Television's
Nightly Business Report and has even produced dozens of restaurant stories for The Food Network. In his journey, he has worked with Paul McCartney, Steven Spielberg and Muhammad Ali -- as well as countless artists, musicians, entrepreneurs and leaders in the personal development movement like Tony Robbins and Jim Rohn. More recently, he has been active in public relations from the other side -- writing press releases and securing media coverage for
his clients on national television shows, magazines and podcasts. An underlying truth is discovered..."we all want to be appreciated and valued." And to finish it all off, Tom offers up some actionable advice for those wanting to pitch their story to the media.

It's a walk down memory lane for the Gen Xers and Baby Boomers and a some great PR wisdom for entrepreneurs of all ages.
