  • We had some technical and sound issues with this one as I'm away from home, but please bear with us as I truly believe the content is worth it.

The fifth episode of Life, Oh Life, a new podcast about life advice, with former HuffPost UK and Press Association journalist Becky Barnes. This week’s guest is Deepening Into Life founder and facilitator Donna Lancaster. Donna co-founded The Bridge Retreat and has been working with individuals, couples and groups for more than 30 years.

Her book The Bridge is due for publication in 2022.

In this episode we talk about her online gym for the soul; Deepening Into Life, redefining prayer and faith, spirituality and connecting with nature. Donna also generously reads a beautiful prayer she penned called The Welcome, which left me quite choked up.

Donna also walks us through how to make time for personal development, life post-pandemic, dates with wonder and so much more.

Life, Oh Life is a podcast about life advice, so Donna shares with us the best advice she’s been given, the advice she’d give her former self and the advice she wants to pass on to others.

I'd love to hear your constructive feedback about the episode and please do share, rate and review (and subscribe where you can).

  • The fourth episode of Life, Oh Life, a new podcast about life advice, with former HuffPost UK and Press Association journalist Becky Barnes. This week’s guest is journalist and author Francesca Specter. In 2019, Francesca coined her own term for meaningful time spent alone – Alonement, and has since created a brilliant podcast and book of the same name. Her podcast guests, who talk about finding joy and value in solitude, have included Alain de Botton and Vick Hope.

Her book Alonement: How To Be Alone And Absolutely Own It, was published in March 2021.

In this episode we talk about New Year's resolutions and spending quality time alone. Francesca also talks us through how to face the fear of doing something on your own, which is also covered in her amazing book.

We also discuss nightmare experiences when dining alone and what needs to change, how Alonement is not just for single people, living alone, and navigating the dating apps.

Life, Oh Life is a podcast about life advice, so Francesca shares with us the best advice she’s been given, the advice she’d give her former self and the advice she wants to pass on to others.

  • The third episode of Life, Oh Life, a new podcast about life advice, with former HuffPost UK and Press Association journalist Becky Barnes. This week’s guest is NHS GP, TV doctor, author, speaker and wellbeing campaigner Dr Radha Modgil. Radha is a self-care queen, whose advice and guidance through her appearances, writing and generous social media offerings have provided so much hope for people, especially through a global pandemic.

In this episode we talk about Radha's five Cs: control, care, continuity, creativity and compassion. We talk about the exhaustion of coming out of lockdown, self-compassion and kindness, what we've learnt about ourselves in the past year, resilience and hope.

Radha also guides us through how to see the joy in small moments, taking small steps to make change and how to be our own best friend. I hope you find it as calming as I did.

Life, Oh Life is a podcast about life advice, so Radha shares with us the best advice she’s been given, the advice she’d give her former self and the advice she wants to pass on to others.

This week’s guest is career change coach Selina Barker, whose book Burnt Out: The exhausted person’s guide to thriving in a fast-paced digital world was published in April 2021. Selina also guides us through how to turn the volume down on your ‘shitty committee’ (aka inner critic) and how to nurture your 'inner wise cheerleader’. We also laugh a lot.
