Season 2 kicks off with a new episode of What's up Wednesday's!
Quotes:
“We’re so busy managing our life that we miss out on this great mystery we’re a part of.” - John O Donahue
“The man who, being really on the Way, falls upon hard times in the world will not, as a consequence, turn to that friend who offers him refuge and comfort and encourages his old self to survive. Rather, he will seek out someone who will faithfully and inexorably help him to risk himself, so that he may endure the suffering and pass courageously through it, thus making of it a "raft that leads to the far shore. Only to the extent that man exposes himself over and over again to annihilation, can that which is indestructible arise within him. In this lies the dignity of daring.” - Karl Gras Durkheim

An amazing conversation with Syd! We chatted about going all in on her active lifestyle pursuits, but not getting caught up in trying to be the best runner, or boxer. Instead enjoying the process and be mindful of what you're getting out of your pursuits, "winning" isn't everything. Check out her new podcast Toenails, “a podcast about running and also not about running.” Linked below!

I had an absolute pleasure talking with Ron Griswell. We walked through his journey of becoming an avid outdoorsman, how that led to him wanting to share the great outdoors with others, and how he continues the movement to get BIPOC outside! He has an amazing 5k set up for this month that will help support his organization HBCU's Outside. We encourage everyone to get involved! Full links below.

Was a pleasure to sit down with Rio Lakeshore and talk about the purity and joy of running. Rio is an aspiring Ultra runner and will be competing in The Speed Project's virtual showdown this fall. Rio's spirit truly embodies why we run, and how running can transform not only the mental and the physical but put you in touch with a higher power.

An ode to our Monday episode with Ramond Thompson. Falling in love with the process is critical to creating habits and routines that will carry you through the moments you don't feel like doing the work. It also helps us to detach from 'winning' and help us to remember why we train. A few links mentioned in the episode below!

I had the chance to sit down with Ramon Thompson, who has a passion and love for cycling. That passion led him to falling in love with the process of training and getting better. In this week's episode we talk about what it's like to train not to win, but because of how it helps you in other areas of your life. We also talk about how his process and how he got started in competitive cycling.

Short and sweet for today's episode. A quick note on making meaningful work “Of all the things that can boost emotions, motivation and perceptions during a workday, the single most important is, making progress in meaningful work.” From an article in the Harvard Business Review back in 2011.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Elisa Shankle founder of HealHaus, based in Brooklyn, New York. We talk about her own path towards healing through a marketing and design career, to how she began her inner journey, along with how HealHaus was created and why. It has been a tough year for yoga studios and cafe's, but Elisa has found a way to rely upon her practice to help her pivot and trust her intuition in extraordinary times.

Had a wonderful discussion with Tim Rossi about how he found running his senior year of college and developed a love for the sport living in NYC. Tim breaks down the beauty of NYC marathon, run culture in NY, and his own journey of bouncing back from 3 major injuries. We sat down before Victory Mile, in which Tim ran a 5:10 during a 5k run in NYC! Check it out, and big shout to everyone who participated in Victory Mile.

On today's episode, we talk about the science behind the idea of hope. How play can and should be an integral part of our lives as it leads to o brain plasticity, adaptability, and creativity. What would be like to utilize the science of hope in your own life, and follow that curiosity with a deep sense of play. As everyday athletes we utilize both of these tools to fuel our progress forward.

On this weeks episode, had the chance to sit down with Jes Woods, Nike NYC run coach and ultra marathoner. Jes gives us an account of the state of the union for running as most fall races have been canceled and runners are forced to really question WHY they are running. Jes gives some good advice on re-aligning goals and priorities and getting out there for the joy and purity of running. She also gives a bit of background on how she got started as a run coach and how running culture has grown in NYC over the past decade. Also be sure to check out our first race! Movement for a greater good, Victory Mile kicks off this weekend. Check the link below.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Matt Taylor Co-Founder and Ceo of Tracksmith. We discussed his upbringing and path to starting Tracksmith. He gave great insight on what it takes to build a direct to consumer brand in todays market. As well, how the brand has navigated the last 6 months through a global pandemic and into Black Lives Matter. One of my favorite interviews to date, as Matt gives a first hand account of what it takes to sustain a company of Tracksmith's size in todays landscape.
