How does mission & evangelism work, what does cross-cultural mission look like, how do we know someone is ready to be sent overseas, what about culture and our new identity in Christ?

Dr Tim Silberman and myself sat down and discussed all this and more.

  • We give a lot of attention, rightly so, to the sins we have committed both intentionally and unintentionally. But do you ever give thought to the sin of omission, the sin committed purely by NOT taking action? Not sure what we are talking about? Think about the moments where you have ignored the call to do good work, God's work.

James 4:17 reads, If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.

We need to be paying just as much attention to those moments when we don’t do what we ought to do. Repenting, with a heart to change and grow.

I first heard Jacinda speak about this in 2022 and decided to have her on to help us unpack it a little further.. We discuss what this looks like in the day to day, what scripture has to say about it, how it impacts our faith, along with some practical steps (cue the 5 P’s!) on how to help us grow in this area. Promise you, you will greatly benefit from hearing this one. I have seen great change in my own life from it, I have no doubt you will as well.

  • According to research overseas 70% of men within the church engage in watching porn regularly and over 50% pastors also struggle. It goes even higher to 76% when its men under the age of 25. But women aren’t void of this either, there is a silent battle going on for women as well. 87% of christian women have seen porn and of that under the age of 30, 33% watch porn monthly. Keep in mind that 40% of viewers worldwide are women. The devastating side effect of that is that 94% of our children will see porn before the age of 14 with the average age of introduction at 8. Porn & Sexual addiction is a pervasive and destructive hidden sin that is happening within the Church and we must start addressing it. So it begs the question, why is it not discussed regularly and why is the Church so ill equipped to handle it?

In this episode, we address the why and more importantly the HOPE that is available to us all. Bernard runs a ministry throughout Australia and NZ that helps equip churches and sees individuals set on a path of freedom and restoration from this often overlooked and guilt ridden, shame-filled battle that so many are in. We discuss everything from why it's a growing issue, how to find support, how leaders can create change, how you can support others (including what not to do!!!!) and what the journey of restoration looks like.

Whether this a journey you are on yourself, know someone who is or potentially just blissfully unaware, then this episode is for you. Let us grow in understanding and grace so that we can work towards wholeness and redemption from the waging war that is silently sweeping our church and devastating lives.
