    Eat Pizza at a Pizzeria
So what would a trip to Italy be without pizza? Hardly a trip at all. Keep in mind that you rarely order pizza by the slice in Italy. When you eat pizza, you get the whole pie to yourself. It sounds a little intimidating at first, but somehow folks always manage to eat the whole thing! You’ve got plenty of options in Bologna, but the best by far is Bella Napoli, on Via San Felice. Don’t let the less-than-warm wait staff or the relatively small pizza put you off. That’s just the way the pizza is at Bella Napoli, and every bite is delicious. And a word to the wise for those of you who are just learning the language, “peperoni” means peppers. If you want a pepperoni pizza, you need to order “salame piccante.” I learned that the hard (funny) way! Oh, and don’t forget that you DON’T tip! Waiting table is a respected profession, and your bill will include a “coperta” for every person in your party.

Eat Like You’re in a Local’s Own Kitchen
Looking for a place to have a traditional meal out? There is no lack of options in Bologna, but I highly recommend the Bolognese cuisine at Trattoria del Ponte Lungo. The tortellini in brodo are delicious, but you might also be tempted by the tagliatelle con ragu. You take the same bus (13, 81, 87, 91) as you would take to get to the supermarket, and get off at the Ponte Lungo stop. They are open for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday, but their schedule can vary on weekends and holidays, so call ahead. And don’t forget that the dinner hour starts much later in Italy, say 7:00, so you won’t find them open before that. The atmosphere is casual, with family groups and after-work dinner parties equally welcome, and the rates are very reasonable. And if you find you’re at a loss as to how to proceed with all the wonderful choices on the menu, the wait staff are more than happy to help.

Enjoy Long Weekends in the Springtime
The Monday after Easter, or Pasquetta, is always a day off. The kids are off from school, and virtually everything is closed. This is true all over Italy (and many other places too, I’m sure.) But if you are lucky, you will find that Pasquetta falls closely to two other holidays which are near and dear to the Bolognese heart: Liberation Day on April 25, and Labor Day on May 1., known to one and all simply by their dates. April 25 commemorates the end of World War II and is particularly poignant to the Bolognesi not only because many of the older generation remember watching the liberating armies march through the city gates, but because the Resistance was very strong in this northern town, and the people suffered greatly because of it. May 1, is a holiday honoring the worker, and given Bologna’s history and politics over the years, Labor Day here will involve multiple rallies and marches for workers’ rights. People plan long weekends, or walks through town, and on these two holidays, you will get a real glimpse of Italians and the Bolognesi in particular celebrating who they are.

Take one quick peek at the water as you cross, just water over rocks, a small creek at that.
And now before me is a dreamy meadowland with a good old corral gate and a barbed wire fence the road running right on left but this where I get off at last. Then I crawl thru the barbed wire and find myself trudging a sweet little sand road winding right thru fragrant dry heathers as tho I’d just popped thru from hell into familiar old Heaven on Earth, yair and Thank God (tho a minute later my heart’s in my mouth again because I see black things in the white sand ahead but it’s only piles of good old mule dung in Heaven).

And at first it’s so amazing to be able to enjoy dreamy afternoon meadows of heather up the other end of the canyon and just by walking less than a halfmile you can suddenly also enjoy wild gloomy sea coast, or if you’re sick of either of these just sit by the creek in a gladey spot and dream over snags—So easy in the woods to daydream and pray to the local spirits and say “Allow me to stay here, I only want peace.

“How’d’st rain rule here?” says I to Evelyn to show her what a big poet I am—She really loves me, used to love me in the old days like a husband, for awhile there she had two husbands Cody and me, we were a perfect family till Cody finally got jealous or maybe I got jealous, it was wild for awhile I’d be coming home from work on the railroad all dirty with my lamp and just as I came in for my Joy bubblebath old Cody was rushing off on a call so Evelyn had her new husband in the second shift then when Cody come home at dawn all dirty for his Joy bubblebath, ring, the phone’s run and the crew clerk’s asked me out and I’m rushing off to work, both of us using the same old clunker car in shifts—And Evelyn always maintaining that she and I were really made for each other but her Karma was to serve Cody in this particular lifetime, which I really believe and I believe she loves him, too, but she’d say “I’ll get you, Jack, in another lifetime. . . And you’ll be very happy”—“What?” I’d yell to joke, “me running up the eternal halls of Karma tryina get away from you hey?”—“It’ll take you eternities to get rid of me,” she adds sadly, which makes me jealous, I want her to say I’ll never get rid of her—I wanta be chased for eternity till I catch her.

  • Henry David Thoreau
    1. As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.
    2. It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.
    3. Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.
    4. You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.
    5. If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.
    6. I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
    7. Live your life, do your work, then take your hat.
    8. To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts.
    9. Things do not change; we change.
    10. I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by conscious endeavor

    Kahil Gibran

    1. If you love somebody, let them go, for if they return, they were always yours. If they don't, they never were.
    2. Let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music. Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together, yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.
    3. Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.
    4. One day you will ask me which is more important? My life or yours? I will say mine and you will walk away not knowing that you are my life.
    5. Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.
    6. Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself
    7. I have learned silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet strange, I am ungrateful to these teachers.

    Ralph Waldo Emerson

    1. Give me health and a day,and I will make the pomp of emperors seem ridiculous.
    2. Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This day is all that is good and fair. It is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on yesterdays.
    3. The greatest gift is a portion of thyself.
    4. Learn how to carry a friendship greatly, whether or not it is returned. Why should one regret if the receiver is not equally generous? It never troubles the sun that some of his rays fall wide and vain into ungrateful space, and only a small part on the reflecting planet. Let your greatness educate the crude and cold companion. If he is unequal, he will presently pass away; but thou art enlarged by thy own shining.
    5. Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful; for beauty is God's handwriting -- a wayside sacrament. Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every fair flower, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing.
    6. The wise man in a storm prays to God, not for safety from danger; but for deliverance from...

I was born with a knowing; a true sense of who I came forth to become. Fortunately I grew up in a family where there was tremendous encouragement to explore every curiosity and embark on each incredible journey of self-discovery. I threw myself into the mix of life with a sense of wild abandonment. There was so much to experience and I was bound and determined to explore it all. I was ahead of my time, always choosing the road less traveled as I allowed my inner being to guide me every step of the way. The contrast that I have experienced throughout my lifetime has been stunning. Each and every wonderful moment has brought me closer to the clarity of the life that I have so joyfully created and live out each and every day.

I am on what I often call my "third life." I have co-created a beautiful family with my successful and dynamic husband. I received my MSW from Loyola University, and developed a wonderful thriving private psychotherapy practice. I have traveled the world exploring all types of spiritual healing modalities. I am a passionate amateur equestrian rider on the AA horse show circuit. I have an insatiable appetite for pleasure, beauty and joy, and often refer to myself as a true pleasure junkie.

I am now so appreciative to be able to offer this integrative approach to well-being, as well as a lovely new texting option called The Quickie, providing you with an easy way of checking back in with yourself at a moment’s notice, allowing you to re-frame your current thoughts and feelings, so that you may quickly be on your merry way.

Get your iron levels checked! Iron helps oxygenate every one of your blood cells. Without adequate iron, the blood cannot carry oxygen effectively, causing feelings of weakness, fatigue and irritability; plus paleness, headaches, and problems concentrating or focusing. If you aren't getting enough iron from your diet, consider adding an iron supplement to your vitamin routine.

    Avoid GMOs for better health

We are hearing more and more about genetically modified food. It might seem controversial, but I'm here to tell you they are unhealthy and should be avoided. The 3 most commonly GM crops are corn, soy and cotton, usually found in processed and packaged foods. So, high fructose corn syrup, cottonseed oil, soy protein...all that fake meat...usually GMO unless labeled organic. GMOs have NOT been properly tested and we don't know longterm how they are going to affect us. And at the very least, since we've begun using GM farming practices, pesticide, herbicide and fungicide use has increased by about 5 million tons. That alone is reason to be concerned. My advice...steer clear.
    Not tonight honey. Headache?

In my experience, if you wake up with the headache, chances are you were grinding your teeth at night or clenching your jaw. Try massaging your jaw and temples and see if the headache doesn't subside. Or seek out a professional massage. Also look at the stresses in your life and see if maybe some relaxation might be called for.
    Experiencing Acid Reflux or GERD?

Often GERD is not caused by too much stomach acid, but actually too little, called hypochlorhydria. So what you're actually burping up is not stomach acid, but food that hasn't been digested fully and released into the small intestines. Short term, acid reducers may help, but what we should actually be doing is INCREASING the acid. You can do that with acid supplementation, but often taking apple cider vinegar with meals will help the problem go away. Try it and good luck!

I understand the pressures of pursuing personal and professional excellence and of wanting to make the most of your time and abilities.
I am a yoga alliance qualified 200hr registered yoga teacher. After obtaining a Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Bristol, I spent six years living in London. In academia, obtaining a Masters degree and PhD in Nanotechnology from Imperial College London, and in senior management roles at internet start-up companies. Two years of which was spent doing both simultaneously. I have always demanded the best of myself and what I offer. What I have learnt along the way is that my physical and emotional wellbeing is the key to my success.

In 2012, I backpacked alone for a year through south and central america which prompted me in 2014 to leave my career as a management consultant to become a yoga teacher and start my own company. I understand the challenges of being a successful professional in corporate, academic, start-up and entrepreneurial environments; the lifestyle, the drive, the demands, the highs, the lows and the imbalances. It is extremely difficult to find time for relaxation and rejuvenation, however taking a simple hour out each week, if used effectively, can lead to increased productivity, efficiency and clarity. My personalized and recorded online yoga sessions offer convenient and effective relaxation, fitness and wellbeing that I wish I could have had access to before.

I am now the founder of my own company offering a service that I truly believe in and working in a way that is aligned with my skills and values. I have streamlined my business processes to maximize the effectiveness of my skills and work time. I love every aspect of what I do and have a great deal of free time to enjoy reading, writing, traveling, good company and healthy eating. I am a digital nomad. I have no permanent address. I travel to places that intrigue me, learn about cultures, enjoy natural beauty and have the freedom and flexibility I have always wanted to live the life that I desire.

I look forward to supporting and helping you, through the use of yoga, to reach your full potential.

  • From Tara's website: http://www.wideawakenedhealing.com/meet-tarah/

    Hi! I’m Tarah Long.

Thank you for taking the time to check us out! My passion is sharing the knowledge that YOU can heal YOURSELF…and guiding you to do so! I am here to help you have the life you dream of with freedom and ease in your body.

I help those who do not feel good in their bodies (suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, auto-immune disorders, migraines, IBS, Crohn’s Disease, anxiety, depression, and other long-term dis-ease), transform their health and heal themselves.

You are so much more powerful than anyone has ever told you and I want to show you how!

I do what I do because I’ve been on the other side of being well. I suffered with stomach ulcers since the age of 15, and the first and only time I experienced lasting relief was with acupuncture.

Then at the age of 22 I became very ill. I didn’t know what was wrong with me, and neither did any of the numerous Western doctors I saw. Finally, after about 6 months of tests and visits, one of my doctors told me I had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I asked her, “Um, what’s that?” She replied, ” I’m not really sure, you should Google it. I do know that people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome shouldn’t eat chocolate or drink red wine.” Say what??? Needless to say this was less then helpful.

I had relied on doctors for so long to help me, and they couldn’t. Part of me wanted to give up, but a bigger part of me knew right then that there had to be another way, and that healing was possible for me. I realized I was going to have to take action and find “alternative” ways to health.

And so began my journey to living life on my terms, in a healthy and vibrant body. It’s been a rough road, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. It is, after all, the reason why I do what I do today. It is why I have a strong calling and desire to help people heal and have an extraordinary quality of life. I’m still on my healing journey, as we all are, but now I can say that instead of just surviving through life, I am thriving in it.

    My healing philosophy:

I believe in looking at all aspects of a person’s life and journey for lasting healing, including physical, emotional, mental, relational, spiritual and metaphysical.

  • About Indigo - taken from her website : http://awakenbusinessconsulting.com/about-us/

Hi I’m Indigo Ocean Dutton, Conscious Business Strategy specialist at Awaken Business Consulting and host of Conscious Business Leaders TV.

I know what it can be like to endeavor to make it in the world in a way that is both fulfilling and financially sound. We want to have material abundance, and we also want to have the freedom to maintain deep emotional bonds and contribute toward our vision of a better world. Yet we often are made to feel as if we have to choose one or the other.

I experienced those tradeoffs myself for many, many years. I either did corporate work that was lucrative, but spiritually and emotionally stifling, or bounced between low-paying non-profit jobs that had meaningful goals, but uninspiring daily life experience.

I received my BA degree in International Commerce from Brown University, but to my surprise, that didn’t exactly set me up for career success. I was accepted to Hastings Law School and nearly went… 3 years in a row. (When I got my MA my mother said, “Well now you have your Masters degree AND a law degree.” I was like, “Mom, what are you talking about? I never went to law school. I just ALMOST went, 3 years in a row.”)

Building upon my MA in Integral Counseling Psychology did, however, translate into foundations that I still draw upon in my work today. Work experience I gained after the degree also continues to be a part of my work, from art therapy, to play therapy with children, to spiritual counseling and channeling.

It was when I was recruited by a business consulting firm and trained in the craft of business consulting that things really took off for me. I went through 3 firms in 3 years, each time learning more about the work and having access to a wider array of client industries. This on-the-job education allowed me to start my own firm with client companies large and small (some among the Fortune 500).

Within my first 2 months in business I closed my first $20,000 deal, and within my first 3 years I closed my first $375,000 deal. Suddenly, my financial picture had transformed dramatically. But I was still on just one side of the success equation. The work was challenging, and financial achievement was affirming, but something was still missing.

You see, the combination of experience and training I’ve had makes me a well-prepared and highly skilled resource. My depth of heartful presence makes me an excellent companion for the journey. But more than any of that, it is the personal journey I have had, complete with pits and peaks along the way, that finally brought me to a point of full integration that I allows me to deeply groc the journey you too are on.

I can now say that I have both meaningful work at all levels of my being, and the financial well-being and stability that has always meant so much to me. And I’d like to help you achieve the same holistic equilibrium for yourself.

If you believe that your work should reflect the highest aspects of who you are, then I would love to help you achieve that goal, through effective strategy and guidance on your path to success.

I’ve assembled a powerful team of business experts to insure you are solid in all areas of running a successful enterprise. Being able to support yourself without a boss is great, but being able to thrive is a collaborative effort. Let us be your “on-demand” expertise to help you achieve new levels of success.

I hope you’ll stretch yourself beyond what is already known to you, and reach out to connect with us today.

In her own words Maura share's insightful questions as well as personal stories to help others discover the voice and life within them . . . so they can return to their own place of sovereignty while still here in this world.

    Excerpts from her website:

"My official Ambassador of Happiness trademark processed just recently, but the life path to happiness has taken me over a half century to master. Join me here for insights, anecdotes and reflective questions to help you find your own way to happiness — but by a far faster route!"

Frequently, I’m asked the question, “What does living happy inside out mean?”

"Believe it or not, I recognized from a very early age that the world around me was living in reverse. People were taking all their messaging and “cues” from the outer world rather than asking themselves what felt right, authentic and peaceful to them from the inside.

“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

This old Jewish proverb sums up much of my philosophy. Our ongoing, inner thoughts form our life experience. When chosen repeatedly and consistently from the right perspective, our conscious thought life uplifts us from within and brightens the world around us."

  • 11:15 S2: So welcome everyone to this weeks episode of Hearing Voices, today I am pleased to have with us on the show Amirah Hall. Professional clairvoyant, master energy healer, and author. Creator of a global spiritual and personal development program, Amirah Hall has taken the lessons she learned from teaching thousands of student worldwide and created the how-to guide Manifesting Miracles 101. Amirah Halls believes everyone needs to learn how their own energy works to practically manifest their life dreams and goals. She teaches down-to-earth techniques that are easily applied to release unwanted, outmoded energy patterns.

12:00 S1: So that we can have a more peaceful productive and stress free daily life. Amirah welcome.

12:07 S2: Thank you so much. It's such a joy to be with you David, thank you.

12:11 S1: I'm glad you're on the show today. So, how is it that you got started in this work?

12:20 S2: That's a deep and profound question actually. I actually had a near death experience in 1998 that turned me on my head, so to speak. And life just sort of inverted itself and I was working in the professional sales career in corporate America. And I was, all of the sudden, found myself seeing the world and seeing life extremely different. In that way I didn't know, but I opened up my clairvoyant abilities. So I kept it secret for quite a while until I learned the one thing that is so profound from my near death experience that I learned was that everything was energy. And I also learned as one of the most profound lessons that everything is energy, but love is the fabric of all creation. And so my journey started in discovering more of that per se for myself. It was a personal journey. Personal spiritual journey that developed into other people around me wanting to know more about it.

13:34 S2: When I discovered that I had some tools and some techniques that were extremely practical and applicable to others, more people wanted to learn in this. And so I started teaching classes and started teaching the methodologies and offering private sessions with people. When I discovered that I could see the energy around the person and in their bodies and by identifying the energies, it was like I became this human computer virus scanner. And I could extract viruses in people's energy feels. And when I did that, their life shifted or an emotion is shifted or experience is shifted. So that's how it sort of began. It sort of being an ongoing process of evolution, but it's become clearer and clearer and more defined as I progressed. And that's been 18 years of a journey.

14:36 S1: And you've been doing this work for how long?

    14:40 S2: 18 years now...

    14:41 S1: 18 years.

14:41 S2: Since my near death experience, yes.

    14:43 S1: Wow.

14:46 S2: And when I discovered that everything was energy, this was... The computer and the internet was really in infancy stages. And I didn't have resources at that time to even understand what happened to me. So it was a long journey of discovering that. And even when the secret came out and all of these wonderful information was shared with the world about love attraction, I was actually in it and practicing it. And I was delighted when this quantum physicist started articulating that, the words that I didn't have from my experience. So it all started to culminate when I'm in, "Wow! I'm doing quantum physics." "I'm using the principles of the universe." Naturally, that sort of downloaded in my near death experience to apply and make it practical.

15:49 S2: Now granted not everybody was ready when I was getting this information. But I think really where people are at now and that's why I put together my book, Manifesting Miracles One on One. The art of being in the flow is over the 16 years that I've launched my mentoring program and guiding people every step of the way to implement the love attraction and the love attachment and the love oneness and the love discernment...

  • 010: Like Attracts Like

Hello everyone and welcome to this episode of Hearing Voices – I’m David Angelo.
We are continuing our talk on The Law of Attraction – this week I’ll be using everyday occurrences as examples of how this Law works, often when we don’t even realize it.
Today’s Voices Heard comes from John Assaraf, Entrepreneur and contributor on the hit DVD movie The Secret; “What most people don’t understand is that a thought has a frequency. We can measure a thought. And so if you’re thinking that thought over and over and over again, if you’re imagining in your mind having that brand new car, having the money that you need, building that company, finding your soul mate…if you’re imagining what that looks like, you’re emitting that frequency on a consistent basis.”

    Let’s get started…

Have you ever thought about someone that you hadn’t heard from in a while and then the phone rings and it’s them? How about when you’re trying to balance something and disaster strikes and you say “I knew that was going to happen!”
Without even thinking about it (no pun intended) you have been inviting these things into your experience by your continued focus of them and the Law of Attraction has given you more of the same based on your feelings. For example, I would like a new car – how long before it gets here. Well, the truth be told the care is already here – just look around! But getting it into your driveway? Well, how badly do you really want it? Really want it? Remember the example of balancing something, like say a stack of dishes, and the disaster that struck was that they all fell from your grasp? Why? Your thoughts, and the intensity of your feelings around those thoughts. Somewhere you were thinking “Please don’t let these fall and break…please don’t let these fall and break…please don’t…” Right? Your focus, your thoughts, your feelings, everything was in perfect alignment to allow for a manifestation. And The Law did not disappoint. Unlike the car in your driveway, or lack thereof, because more than likely your first thought is “I want a car” The Universe comes back with “What kind? New or old? What color?” In other words – specifics. And for a lot of us that’s hard. Ok, so you get the specifics down, then your “other” voice says “yeah, right, like this is really gonna happen.” And you try to counter the negative banter with positive affirmations.

I think you get the idea – the disaster happened because everything was focused on it. The car has some doubters that need convincing.
In the book The Secret, John Assaraf says “Our job as humans is to hold on to the thoughts of what we want, make it absolutely clear in our minds what we want, and from that we start to invoke one of the greatest laws in the Universe, and that’s the Law of Attraction. You become what you think about most, but you also attract what you think about most.”
Here’s what foils most peoples’ creations. Most people focus more about what they don’t want than what they do want. And then they wonder why they are always getting the things they don’t want.
I’m sure everyone has had this experience, you’re out with a group of friends and someone says, “What do you want to do?” Its rare that anyone will come up with a definite answer, usually everyone will say “I don’t know.” But as soon as someone makes a suggestion the rest of group will chime back “Nah!” See, few of us know what we really want but most all of us know what we don’t want.

So the homework is – get to really know who you are – what are your dreams? And don’t filter your thoughts on this, there are no limits don’t censor yourself. What do you like?
Remember sitting on Santa’s lap and he would ask – what would you like for Christmas? We had no problem answering THAT question. Become kid-like again and allow yourself to dream.

I’ll end today’s episode from a quote by Lisa Nichols, contributor to the book The Secret – “The Law of Attraction is...
