Today we're joined by my friend Michael Cioni to talk about his new company Strada.
Michael is a serial entrepreneur who's career includes numerous awards for his creative work and technical achievements. He is an accomplished director, cinematographer, musician, four-time Emmy winner, member of the Motion Picture Academy, and Associate Member of the American Society of Cinematographers. A U.S. patent holder of digital cinema technology, Michael was the founder and CEO of the post house Light Iron where he pioneered tools and techniques that emerged as global workflow industry standards. After Light Iron was acquired by Panavision, Michael served as product director for Panavision's Millennium DXL 8K camera ecosystem. He then joined the cloud startup company Frame.io where he served as Senior Vice President of Global Innovation at Frame.io. After Frame.io was acquired by Adobe, Michael he leads numerous workflow innovations including the breakthrough Camera to Cloud technology program as Senior Director of Global Innovation. He continues to be motivated by the desire to democratize professional workflows and focuses his efforts on inventing new ways for filmmakers to create through his technology. Michael is a well known and gifted speaker, advocate for the community, and serves as a mentor and educator throughout the global media industry.

Today we've got the fantastic Callan Green on the program to talk about his work on the Netflix series "The Gentlemen" by Guy Ritchie.
Callan is a New Zealand born, prolific award-winning Director of Photography with over 25 years of experience in the camera department. He specialises in Features and TV Series with an additional passion for automotive commercials and music promos.
Prior to that Callan shot 2nd unit for the 3rd instalment of the world renowned "Band of Brothers" Series "MASTERS OF THE AIR" Producers: Tom Hanks & Stephen Spielberg. Directors (Cary Joji Fukunaga & Timothy Van Patten). MU-DP Adam Akapaw, due for release on Jan 26 2024.
In mid 2021, Callan shot his debut feature film “THE ENFORCER” for Millennium Media, starring Antonio Bandares, Kate Bosworth, Mojean Aria, Alexis Ren and 2 Chainz. Directed by Richard Hughes.
Back in 2019 Callan DP’d the UK based 2nd Unit for Universal Studios’ 9th instalment of “The Fast & Furious”. 2nd Unit Director JJ Perry. Main Unit Dp Steve Windon. Main Unit Director Justin Lin. He also dp'd various splinter units for “FAST 10” in 2022.
Callan has also shot music videos for Ed Sheeran, George Michael, James Blunt, One Direction, Pale Waves, The Script, Just Banco, Lewis Capaldi, Ellie Goulding, JC Stewart and Sam Smith and many more.

Today we're joined by the wonderful Sherri Kauk, DP of "Drugstore June" starring a star-studded cast lead by Esther Povitsky featuring Bobby Lee, Beverly D'Angelo, James Remar, and Haley Joel Osment.
Her first scripted series, season 3 and 4 of CBS' The Inspectors, garnered her an Emmy Award for Lighting Design. There, she also directed her first network episode, 'Scam School'. Her cinematography highlights include "Sex Appeal" (Hulu), the SXSW feature 'LOEV" screening on Netflix, and season 3 of the Snapchat series "Endless Summer."She has camera operated on prestigious shows such as "The Big Leap" (FOX), “Insecure” (HBO), “The L Word: Generation Q” (Showtime), “Making the Cut” (Amazon Prime) and the Sundance documentary “Akicita: The Battle of Standing Rock."Sherri is an alumna of The American Film Institute & Ithaca College.

Nick Ramsey is the DP of the new season of Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction featuring Jonathan Frakes.
Nick received a scholarship to attend the MFA filmmaking program at Chapman University. There he learned the true art of bringing stories to life from masters like Bill Dill, ASC and Johnny Jensen, ASC. His hard work and collaboration on multiple projects earned recognition from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and The American Society of Cinematographers. Since graduating Nick has shot a multitude of different types of projects, with narrative always being closest to his heart. Many of his most recent music videos and a spot for Lamborghini have received millions of views on sites like Facebook and Youtube. Some have even remained at the top of the trending list for days.

She also shot SYNC OR SWIM, winner of the Billie Award for Journalism from the Women’s Sports Foundation, and filmed History’s eleven part docuseries SANDHOGS. Her award-winning narrative work includes CRABS IN A BARREL, featured on HBO Max; THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF QUEENS, awarded Best Narrative Short Film at Katra Latinx Festival; PARK SLOPE MOMS, winner of the NYWIFT/iWomanTV Best Dark Comedy and Audience awards; DEATH OF A FOOL; and JUNE WEDDINGS.

Laurent became a DP in 1993 and photographed his first feature film in 1996. Since then, he has been behind the camera in more than 500 commercials all around the world and has worked on powerful horror movies (Inside, Frontiers, The Divide), action films (Hitman, Overdrive), and TV shows (Braquo, Crossing Lines, Ransom, Knightfall, Carnival Row).

C. Kim Miles is here to talk about his work on one of my favorite docs in recent years "Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie"! There's some crazy good reenactments in it if you haven't seen it, highly recommend seeking it out.

This week we've got the wonderful Pierre Gill, CSC on to talk about his work on the Disney+ show "Percy Jackson & The Olympians"!
Pierre Gill C.S.C. is a Canadian cinematographer and film and television director. A Montreal native, he is closely associated with Quebecois cinema, and has collaborated with directors like Jean-Marc Vallée, Charles Binamé, Christian Duguay, Allan Moyle, and Denis Villeneuve, working on such films as Black List, The Art of War, Lost and Delirious, The Rocket, Polytechnique, and Upside Down. He served as the second unit director of photography on Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049, which won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography.

You're gonna love this one, we've got Oren Soffer on the pod this week to talk about his work on The Creator and oh so much more!
On top of its worldwide theatrical release, The Creator screened as part of the 2023 Energa Camerimage film festival, was on the shortlist for Best Cinematography at the BAFTAs, and has been nominated for two Academy Awards.
On top of shooting hundreds of incredible commercials and music videos, two of Oren's other recent features premiered at the TIFF and TriBeCa film festivals in 2022. He has also shot multiple award-winning short films, including 'Opera of Cruelty,' which won a Student Academy Award, and ‘See You Soon,’ which won the audience award at the Palm Springs International Shortsfest before subsequently premiering on Short of the Week and receiving a Vimeo Staff Pick. During his studies at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Oren was nominated for the ASC Gordon Willis Student Heritage Award, and was a finalist for the Arri Volker Bahnemann Award for Cinematography.
