Is the Roman Catholic Church shifting their view on homosexuality? Officially, the Catholic Catechism believes that Scripture views homosexuality as a "grave depravity," which is why Catholic Tradition has declared it "intrinsically disordered," and "contrary to the natural law." Regarding acceptance of the act or practice, the Catechism says, "Under no circumstances can they be approved." For those struggling with same-sex attraction, the Church wrote, "Homosexual persons are called to chastity." Likewise, Pope Benedict XVI affirmed that homosexual acts are "grave sins," and that "Deep-seated homosexual tendencies" are "objectively disordered." While sensitivity and respect are grated to the person struggling with same-sex attraction, such persons are bid to "unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter," especially as they lead lives of chastity and purity. But is Pope Francis reshaping this official view by blessing same-sex couples?
