I’ll confess that my house is often quite messy. I value order - I feel like I can think better when my house is clean! But with two creative children, a busy husband, a growing business, and an active dog, there is evidence of a lot of living in our home. Thankfully, Carly Thornock is here to help all of us learn ways we can intentionally manage the mess without having it get in the way of those relationships that matter the most to us.

As I hope you know, I’m hosting a free masterclass on Overcoming Overwhelm during the first week of April. I've been preparing for it the past few weeks, which is probably why an interaction with my kids stood out to me a few days ago when I was feeling super overwhelmed and had a lot to do around the house. Something that I have not been great at as a mom is teaching my kids how to contribute around the house, but I've been working on it. Listen in to hear my thoughts about some mindset shifts I’ve been having around chores, my kids, and how I talk to them about it.

Decision fatigue is a real thing, friends. I’m sure many of you are like me, running around with too much to do and too many decisions to make. My guest today, Emily P. Freeman, believes that regularly prioritizing time to reflect on the past will actually make our decisions in the present more clear and peaceful. As a natural go-getter and busybody, I am inspired by Emily’s dedication to slowing down and practicing self-reflection.

Meal planning can be so stressful! That’s why I’m so excited to bring you this bonus episode with my friends, Stacie & Meghan, from the podcast Didn't I Just Feed You. I hope you caught my main episode on Monday because I shared the audio recording of my guest appearance on their podcast. Today's bonus episode is the second half of that conversation as these two awesome ladies applied my three takeaways to their experience with feeding their families–specifically, their experience with meal planning. So if meal planning is a challenge for you, like it is for me, I know you are going to relate to this lively conversation between two mom-friends who get it.

Making dinner for my family is…not my favorite. If you've been listening to the podcast for very long, you've probably heard me talk about this. It is a constant work in progress for me to figure out how to get dinner on the table, and one of the resources that has been helping me a lot in the last year is the podcast Didn't I Just Feed You. Stacie and Meghan, the hosts of Didn’t I Just Feed You, invited me on their podcast to talk about my journey with feeding my family and how I am learning to declutter the guilt and stress that I feel around this task. I had so much fun being a guest on their podcast, and they graciously agreed to let me air the audio of that conversation today on 3 in 30.

We've spent the last month talking on this podcast all about nurturing our romantic relationships and learning skills for navigating conflicts, building emotionally mature connections, and communicating about vulnerable topics such as intimacy, sex, and desire. This week's episode is, in a way, a continuation of that same theme…because how much more equipped will our children be for their future romantic relationships if we start talking to them now, in age-appropriate ways, about their bodies, their relationships, and their impact on other people? Conversations about puberty, sexuality, and everything in between can be extremely intimidating for parents, so thankfully, there are people like Rowena in the world to help us with these tricky conversations!

In Monday's episode, we talked with therapist Eli Harwood about How to Be a Safe Place for Your Spouse, and one of her takeaways was that it's important to light up about the things that our partner lights up about. Sometimes our spouse’s differences don't feel very loveable to us, and their interests might even feel scary or threatening to us. I loved Eli’s response to my question about this, and I know you will, too.

As we head into a new year, I, like perhaps many of you, am feeling pulled to get back to basics--back to the essence of my life and what I want and the work that is most essential for me to be doing, both inside and outside my home.
That's what has pulled me back to a book that I read almost a decade ago called Essentialism by Greg McKeown. He is my guest on the show next week talking about his second book, but I wanted to introduce him this week by talking about his first book, which I think is especially needed at this time of year.
